We are looking for an Associate Contracts Manager to bring their knowledge and expertise to our team of professionals who are working to achieve SEI&rsquo;s sustainability goals.&nbsp;&nbsp;The Associate Contracts Manager position will play an integral role across SEI, working closely with program leaders to efficiently manage our contracting process with a diverse set of partners, clients, and funders many of whom have complex contracting processes and requirements.&nbsp; SEI is located in Marin County, CA, and operates on a hybrid work schedule for those located in the Bay Area; however, this position is open to candidates anywhere in California for remote work.&nbsp;

Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Lead the development of all contracts and professional services agreements across all of SEI&rsquo;s departments.</li>
<li>Lead contract negotiations with funders and implementing partners.</li>
<li>Review contracts and finalize or formalize all partner and funder agreements.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Develop and champion the systems and processes that enable efficient, effective contract management.</li>
<li>Work closely with the Finance team to produce required reporting for CPA and Board of Directors</li>
<li>Procure insurance certificates for contracts; negotiate insurance clauses in contracts as needed.&nbsp;</li>

The Opportunity
&nbsp;
As a member of SEI's executive leadership team, The Director of Finance and Business Services ensures SEI&rsquo;s financial needs are met and helps drive best financial practices within the organization, helping to create the strategic vision that directs the organization&rsquo;s growth. The Director of Finance and Business Services is a&nbsp;collaborative manager who leads finance and accounting, human resources, and administrative operations. This is a hybrid position. Work is conducted in your home office/offsite location 3 days per week and in our San Rafael office 2 days per week.

Financial Management&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>Oversee and carefully steward SEI&rsquo;s financial resources, including all accounts and assets. Accomplish financial objectives by actively managing monthly forecasting and reporting, detailing and examining the annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating necessary corrective actions.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate expenditures in each department to achieve financial objectives. Set the tone for the financial team and help to shape the culture of the department.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Ensure active communication between the accounting team and the broader leadership team to enable dynamic and informed decision-making related to the organization&rsquo;s cash flow and staffing planning/ forecasting.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Provide final approval on all SEI expenditures, including payrolls. Provide oversight and guidance to the team throughout annual financial audit and tax preparation, and for accounting-related compliance. Participate in monthly financial reconciliation meetings, and oversee the accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial reports and quarterly Board reporting. Continually troubleshoot complex accounting/finance situations.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Draft and implement policies and best practices to support the achievement of objectives and required standards.&nbsp;</li>

Director of Finance & Business Services

Are you passionate about teaching and gardening? Are you interested in using school gardens as a learning laboratory for elementary environmental education? SEI is seeking emerging education professionals to join our Climate Corps Education Outside AmeriCorps cohort to advance science and eco-literacy in public schools!
Climate Corps Education Outside (CCEO) is an 11.5 month, full-time program that offers emerging environmental educators experience, professional development, and training as they advance outdoor science education in Bay Area public schools. The position will start on August 21, 2023 and end early August, 2024.
As a Garden Educator, you will be placed at an elementary school in the San Francisco Bay Area and will be responsible for planning and teaching garden lessons to students in grades K-5 in the on-campus outdoor garden classroom. You will also maintain the garden and work to engage the school community in the space. As part of a cohort of approximately 30 CCEO Fellows, you will participate in a year-long training and professional development program designed to support you in your role.
RESPONSIBILITIES

School Garden Educator

<h4>OVERVIEW</h4>

<h4>IMPACT</h4>
Climate Corps Education Outside (CCEO) is an 11.5 month, full-time (40 hour per week) program that offers emerging environmental educators extensive professional development and training as they advance outdoor science education in Bay Area public schools.&nbsp;

As a CCEO Fellow, you will be placed at an elementary school and serve as the garden educator at that site, teaching 10-16 garden lessons per week to students in grades K-5 in the on-campus outdoor garden classroom. You will also maintain the garden and work to engage the school community in the space. As part of a cohort of approximately 30 CCEO Fellows, you will participate in a year-long training and professional development program designed to support you in your role.&nbsp;

During the school year, Mondays through Thursdays are dedicated to teaching lessons in the outdoor classroom using provided CCEO curriculum while maintaining the garden space. Fridays are designated for cohort-wide trainings and site administration. Over the summer, you will work to improve curriculum and program resources, maintain the garden, and participate in other program projects.&nbsp;

CCEO Fellows serve a high percentage of low-income children and many English-language learners. Fellows must be committed to social justice and have cultivated or be willing to cultivate cultural humility. While the field of environmental education has a long way to go, we strive for equity and inclusivity for Fellows, schools, and students.

The position will start on August 21, 2023 and end early August, 2024. While this is a one year commitment, we strive to maintain consistency for our school sites and prioritize applicants who can make a two year commitment to their schools.

Garden Educator with Climate Corps Education Outside

We are living in an incredible moment in human history, a time where we have a diverse array of impactful climate solutions, but we don&rsquo;t have enough people trained and motivated to put those solutions into homes and communities around the world. That&rsquo;s where you come in. We are currently seeking a Controller to join our Business Division and lead the accounting team to help us realize our mission of building leaders who drive sustainability solutions. SEI is a 25 year old nonprofit organization, whose business has unusually complex accounting and reporting needs as a 501c3 with diverse funding streams, and multiple types of fee-for-service engagements.&nbsp; The ideal candidate will be excited to mature the department&rsquo;s systems, processes and procedures as we scale. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, and comfortable working in fast-paced complex environments. Work is conducted on a hybrid schedule,&nbsp; in your home office or an offsite location 3 days per week and our San Rafael office 2 days per week.

CONTROLLER RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Lead and manage a small accounting staff, creating a productive trusting environment and supporting the professional growth of the team members.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Oversee all aspects of the accounting function including the month-end close, preparation of monthly financial reporting, AP / AR management, compliance, budgeting, payroll accounting etc.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Accountable for regulatory compliance, including the timely and accurate completion of both our annual general audit, and funder-specific audits&nbsp;</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Collaborate with geographically dispersed leaders across the organization on program/project budgets and reporting needs, and effective resource planning</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Own the ongoing development of accounting policies, processes, and controls</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Ensure the financial systems and tools in use are effective, efficient and compliant</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Responsible for timely renewals of business registrations and filings</li>

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">BA Degree in accounting or equivalent&nbsp;</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">10+ years of accounting and finance experience in organizations with $5M+ in revenue</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Experience leading accounting function in nonprofits required. Experience in services, and/or consulting sectors preferred.&nbsp;</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Strong verbal and written communication, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Experience with and interest in various technologies as well as competency across the Google and Microsoft suites of software. Aptitude and willingness to quickly learn industry or project-specific software.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Ability to work under direct supervision, collaboratively in teams/partners, or independently.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to empathize with others.&nbsp;</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Experience and aptitude for rapport building &amp; working collaboratively with colleagues, partners, &amp; clients.</li>

Are you interested in using school gardens as a learning laboratory for elementary environmental education?&nbsp; <a href="https://www.seiinc.org/" data-cke-saved-href="https://www.seiinc.org/">SEI</a> is seeking emerging education professionals to join our <a href="https://www.climatecorps.org/cceo-fellowship.html" data-cke-saved-href="https://www.climatecorps.org/cceo-fellowship.html">Climate Corps Education Outside</a> AmeriCorps cohort to advance science and ecoliteracy in public schools.&nbsp;
&nbsp;
<h4>IMPACT</h4>
Climate Corps Education Outside (CCEO) is an 11.5 month, full-time (40 hour per week) program that offers emerging environmental educators extensive professional development and training as they advance outdoor science education in Bay Area public schools.&nbsp;&nbsp;As a CCEO Fellow, you will be placed at an elementary school and serve as the garden educator at that site, teaching 10-16 garden lessons per week to students in grades K-5 in the on-campus outdoor garden classroom. You will also maintain the garden and work to engage the school community in the space. As part of a cohort of approximately 30 CCEO Fellows, you will participate in a year-long training and professional development program designed to support you in your role.&nbsp;
&nbsp;
CCEO Fellows serve a high percentage of low-income children and many English-language learners. Fellows must be committed to social justice and have cultivated or be willing to cultivate cultural humility. While the field of environmental education has a long way to go, we strive for equity and inclusivity for Fellows, schools, and students.
 
<h4>POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES</h4>
I. Learning &amp; Teaching Outdoors -&nbsp;CCEO Fellows provide garden-based lessons that help students practice science and connect to the natural world.&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>Prepare for and teach multiple lessons per day to various grade levels</li>
<li>Create a safe and positive outdoor classroom culture</li>
<li>Apply a lens of cultural humility to all teaching and learning with students</li>
<li>Adapt and implement the provided CCEO curriculum for your school site</li>
<li>Collaborate with teachers to integrate indoor and outdoor learning experiences</li>
<li>Coordinate harvesting, cooking, and eating in the garden with students as part of your lessons</li>
</ul>
 
II. Outdoor Classroom Design -&nbsp;CCEO Fellows develop and maintain inviting, educational, and productive garden classrooms.&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>Collaborate with your school community to maintain and improve the school garden</li>
<li>Plant and maintain an edible vegetable garden</li>
<li>Plant and maintain perennial plants for student exploration and long-term garden habitat</li>
<li>Perform regular maintenance tasks such as weeding, watering, harvesting, and pest control</li>
<li>Develop garden infrastructure to support learning outcomes</li>
<li>Purchase garden supplies and instructional materials using provided site budget</li>
</ul>

III. Community Engagement -&nbsp;CCEO Fellows build strong relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders, communicate about their work, and identify and support needs in the school community.&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>Represent and manage the Climate Corps Education Outside program at your school</li>
<li>Build strong relationships with community members to serve the needs of the school and students</li>
<li>Spread awareness of the program through conversations, presentations, photos, blogging, newsletters, bulletin board displays, etc.</li>
<li>Engage parent and community volunteers in the garden&nbsp;</li>
<li>Seek out grants and donations to support the garden space</li>
</ul>

IV. Professional Development -&nbsp;CCEO Fellows participate in bi-monthly program training sessions to support their growth as an educator.
<ul>
<li>Attend and actively participate in training sessions focused on supporting building your teaching, gardening, and community engagement skills</li>
<li>Engage in quarterly lesson observations with your Regional Supervisor to discuss and implement feedback</li>
</ul>

V. Site Administration -&nbsp;CCEO Fellows track data about program implementation at their school site, which is integral to demonstrating impact to funders.
<ul>
<li>Tracking and inputting individual student attendance</li>
<li>Tracking and inputting&nbsp; completed lessons with groups of students</li>
<li>Collecting and inputting data related to volunteer engagement and grantseeking</li>
<li>Administering pre- and post- student assessments at the beginning and end of the school year</li>
</ul>

<h4>POSITION QUALIFICATIONS</h4>
<ul>
<li>College degree OR equivalent experience (2-3 years work in education, gardening, or a related field)</li>
