The opportunity to join such an early <br>stage, yet risk-reduced, software company in growth mode is a rare opportunity.  <br> <br><strong>Job Description  </strong><br>Nira is hiring Transmission Planning Engineers to join the product team comprised of <br>half planning engineers and half software engineers. In this role, you’ll work with other <br>planning engineers and software engineers to build products that help renewable <br>developers put together successful project portfolios. Specifically, you’ll:  <br>• Focus on deepening and expanding your transmission planning and generator <br>interconnection studies subject matter expertise. <br>• Work with software engineers and product managers to codify your domain <br>knowledge into Nira’s software products’ backend. <br>• Support the full product life cycle including product ideation, research and <br>development, coding, sales support, customer support, and product <br>maintenance. <br> <br><strong>Who We’re Looking For</strong>  <br>This could be a great fit if: <br>• You have experience with generation interconnection related studies. Transmission Planning Engineer

Depending on where developers connect, they may be on the hook to pay millions of dollars to upgrade power lines, substations etc.</li></ul></div><h2>What you'll do</h2><p>As a software engineer at Nira, you'll work on software and data products that our customers use every week. Your work will directly accelerate renewables getting built. This work could include rolling out new regions, adding new features or even building brand new products out.</p><p>Nira operates in the niche world of Grid Interconnection, which means as a SWE, you'll get to learn about how new renewables get connected to the grid. Day to day, you'll work very closely with Transmission Planning Engineers (TPEs) to get your job done. Both the SWEs and TPEs only have half the picture, so our teams have to be extremely cross-discipline and collaborative. Most teams are structured with 1 PM, 1 SWE and 1 TPE.</p><p>Most of the code you'll write will be python data pipelines. There is occasionally some frontend work as well (having FE experience is not a requirement). However, the SWEs that do best here are the ones that don't really care what part of the stack they're working on - they're just excited to be building products that help fix climate.</p><h2>About you</h2><ul><li>4+ years as a SWE.</li><li>Mission-oriented and focused on working on climate.</li><li>Excited about working with Transmission Engineers.</li><li>Operate well in ambiguity and able to take ownership over large pieces of work.</li><li>Capable of rolling with the punches; plans change at a growing startup.</li><li>Python experience is a plus</li><li>We are hiring any kind of SWE, except for pure frontend engineers.</li></ul>

Software Engineer

Your work will directly accelerate renewables getting built.</p><p>This role is specifically to be the lead PM on Nira's Prospecting product. We need an experienced PM to run our core product that accounts for a majority of our revenue. You'll be responsible for setting the vision for our Prospecting product, and making sure we continue to grow our Prospecting business.</p><p>Being a PM at Nira is a unique blend of PM-ing a traditional software product, while having to go deep on a niche domain. Nira operates in the world of Grid Interconnection, and you'll need to be comfortable becoming an expert in a domain you've likely never heard of before. You should be comfortable with high autonomy and ownership. Most importantly, you should be passionate about fixing our climate!</p><h2>A day in the life</h2><ul><li>You'll spend ~3 hours a week doing user interviews to learn about workflows and gather feedback.</li><li>You'll manage a team of ~8 folks, split into smaller teams of 3.</li><li>You'll spend a few hours a week planning out future work with the Technical Lead of Prospecting as well as the Transmission Lead of Prospecting.</li><li>You'll spend a few hours a week with transmission engineers getting into the nitty-gritty technical details of transmission.</li><li>You'll translate user requirements into Figma mockups.</li><li>You'll spend ~2 hours a week diving into our data and using Python to do light analytics.</li></ul><h2>About you</h2><ul><li>5+ years as a PM.</li><li>Mission-oriented and focused on working on climate.</li><li>Customer facing experience.</li><li>Data analysis experience - Python, SQL, etc.</li><li>Excited to work with Transmission Engineers and learn about how our electrical grid works.</li><li>Previous work experience in a niche domain is a plus.</li><li>Software background a plus.</li><li>Figma skills a plus.</li><li>Operate well in ambiguity and excited about taking ownership.</li><li>Capable of rolling with the punches.
