We believe that everyone should have the ability to support and spread clean energy.
So we created a new way for people to take action. It's a pretty simple idea. We crowdsource funding to put solar panels on community-serving nonprofit organizations. As these organizations pay us back, we reinvest the money into more solar projects in communities across the country. This creates a revolving fund for solar energy that continually perpetuates itself building more and more solar.
It's a pay-it-forward model for solar energy. We call it the Solar Seed Fund.
How It Works
Nonprofits save 15% or more on their electric bills when they go solar with RE-volv. These organizations save money on their electric costs while paying RE-volv back through a Power Purchase Agreement or lease.
Those payments are reinvested in a revolving fund, the Solar Seed Fund, which continually finances more nonprofit solar projects.

<h5>The Development Director Role</h5>RE-volv seeks an experienced and highly motivated Development Director to lead our philanthropic fundraising efforts. This is an exciting opportunity for a development professional who has managed successful long-term fundraising efforts, with an emphasis on foundations, corporations, government grants, and major donors. RE-volv is currently pursuing certification as a Community Development Finance Institution (CDFI) which will allow us to expand our impact. The ideal candidate will have significant CDFI-specific fundraising experience. The Development Director will lead RE-volv's fundraising program, managing all aspects of RE-volv's fund development strategy to raise our $3M+ and growing budget. The right candidate will have a background in clean energy, environmental and climate justice solutions, great communication and writing skills, a creative spark, attention to detail, and passion for RE-volv's mission.<h5>About RE-volv</h5>RE-volv is a nonprofit climate and energy justice organization that helps community-based nonprofits around the country go solar. While doing so, we educate community members about the benefits of clean energy, and train the next generation of clean energy leaders. RE-volv helps community-based nonprofits go solar by providing financing for the upfront costs, allowing them to immediately save on their electricity bills. This innovative solar financing model allows nonprofits to better use those dollars towards serving their community. With each nonprofit solar project, RE-volv aims to engage and benefit as many people as possible and in doing so, help change the narrative around climate and clean energy in America.RE-volv is U.S. Department of Energy Solar Energy Innovation Network awardee, is an inaugural member of the White House National Community Solar Partnership, and winner of the OpenIDEO Climate Innovation Fellowship.<h5>Position Details</h5>This is a full-time position based in our San Francisco office. It requires creativity, independence, collaboration and initiative. Compensation includes an annual salary commensurate with experience, benefits, and generous paid time off. RE-volv also provides the last Friday of every month off for personal care, which we call RE-charge Days. RE-volv allows flexible work hours and is committed to supporting a good work-life balance. Position starts as soon as possible.<h5>Responsibilities:</h5><ul><li>Develop and spearhead annual and long-term fundraising strategy in collaboration with ED</li><li>Research grantmakers and maintain up-to-date database of potential funding sources</li><li>Write letters of inquiry and grant proposals and to various funders including the CDFI Fund</li><li>Research potential major gift donors and manage solicitation efforts</li><li>Work with ED to develop and maintain relationships with donors and grantmakers</li><li>Support Board of Directors in donor outreach strategy</li><li>Work with Communications team to develop donor stewardship and communications materials</li><li>Track and manage incoming donations; maintain donor database in Salesforce</li><li>Schedule and organize donor cultivation events</li><li>Manage grant reporting process</li><li>Be a collaborative member of a small team working to achieve RE-volv's mission</li></ul><h5>Skills and Qualifications:</h5><ul><li>5-7 years of experience fundraising, cultivating donor relationships, and grant-writing required</li><li>Experience in CDFI fundraising and applying for grants through the CDFI Fund</li><li>Familiarity with the CDFI certification process and CDFI best practices</li><li>Proven track record of individually leading significant fundraising efforts</li><li>Experience fundraising from major gift donors, foundation, government, and corporate supporters</li><li>Experience managing donor information and grant applications in Salesforce</li><li>Deep understanding of climate, energy justice, community development, and the related funding landscape</li><li>Extremely well-organized and good at planning and meeting deadlines over long time horizons</li><li>Exceptional writing skills</li><li>Comfortable presenting to large and small audiences</li><li>Ability to self-manage deadlines and tasks</li><li>Demonstrated commitment to promoting renewable energy, mitigating climate change, and building an equitable and sustainable society</li></ul><h5>Equal Opportunity</h5>RE-volv is strongly committed to equality of opportunity and provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, veterans status, genetics or other protected category.
