<p>Our innovation is the electrically-conductive firebrick, the heart of the Joule Hive&nbsp;thermal battery (JHTB). This innovation enables two characteristics with profound implications for decarbonizing industry globally. The first is that the electrically conductive firebrick is the first heating element that can convert electricity to temperatures up to 1,800&deg;C that can scale to electrify the highest temperature, hardest to abate sectors including steel, cement, glass, chemicals.&nbsp; The second is that these high temperatures correlate to unprecedented energy density which enables the cost-effective storage of that thermal energy with &gt;95% efficiency and therefore cheap off-peak electricity can be used to bring the cost of decarbonizing below or close to parity with existing fossil fuel sources.</p>
<p>The Joule Hive&nbsp;thermal battery is a stack of electrically conductive firebricks in an insulated steel container and an electrical balance of plant. The JHTB charges by running electricity directly through the bricks to joule-heat them up to 1800&deg;C, the thermal energy is stored at that temperature, and then the system is discharged by running air or another gas through the brick channels to provide heat to any furnace, boiler, turbine, or kiln.</p>

Lead Structural Design Engineer

<div><b style="font-size:18px;">About The Role</b></div><div><br></div><div><span style="font-size:16px;">We are seeking a Lead Materials Scientist with a specialization in ceramic materials. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and managing experiments, conducting detailed analytics on aging mechanisms of thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties and their relationships to microstructure. You will lead efforts within both internal and external teams to extract material properties to inform product design. Lead Electrical Design Engineer

<div><b style="font-size:18px;">About the Role</b></div><div><br></div><div><span style="font-size:16px;">ETS is seeking a lab technician to assist the R&amp;D team’s work in the Medford, MA lab where ETS tests its novel electrically-heating refractory bricks. Your role will be at the forefront of our development work to characterize and test our novel bricks which form the basis of the Joule Hive ™ thermal battery. Your work will tangibly deepen our understanding of this cutting-edge technology through varied and challenging test campaigns. Lab Technician

You will play a role in helping streamline our FEA modeling processes. You will report to the Lead Thermal Modeling Engineer.   </span></div><br><br><h3>What You’ll Do at ETS </h3><ul><li>Interact with the engineering team and support product development, and pilot testing by modeling and analysis.  </li><li>Perform FEA/CFD workflows from start to finish which may involve modeling body generation, body alterations targeted for modeling purposes, mesh generation and refinement, setting up a model with proper physics, conducting dependency analyses, solving and reviewing results, comparing results with back of the envelope calculations, post-processing of the results, preparing documentation of the study.  </li><li>Assist with ongoing FEA/CFD or Finite Volume based studies along with other engineers.  </li><li>Refine the existing models or codes if necessary.  </li></ul><h3>What You'll Bring to ETS</h3><ul><li>Current enrollment (or graduation within the last year from) a B.S./M.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering.
