Digital Product Senior Expert (m-f-d)

The Scope FSC is responsible for setting requirements for responsible forest management and chain of custody all over the world.  While cornerstone rules are set internationally, many of FSC requirements need local adaptation, resulting in various normative documents produced that are applicable for a given country or region. One of such locally adapted documents are Risk Assessments, essential for the EUDR implementation and integrity. FSC Risk Assessments follow a set of comprehensive indicators and robust methodology to set the common framework for the risk used across FSC system. This is fundamental for the system integrity. However, with EUDR introducing the obligation to perform risk assessments by all operators, there is a risk that multiple entities, including FSC and other certification schemes will be arriving at their own interpretations of risks. The overall scope covers a variety of law fields, including contract and commercial, data protection, not-for- profit, private international, labor, anti-trust and competition, intellectual property, corporate and tax, IT, tenancy, insurance, public and environmental law. You will work closely with the administrative assistant of FSC’s legal team being the co-hub of administration of legal affairs especially in contract management and supporting closely all legal counsels in their business affairs. Main Roles &amp; Responsibilities You are a generalist having a special interest in contract management with an international orientation. You are able to support in a variety of legal and administrative matters in close cooperation with the other legal team members and with a direct reporting line to the Senior Legal Counsel operating under the FSC Group Head of the Legal Department. You are confident to cooperate with different stakeholders to reach practical, efficient and service-oriented solutions. The responsibilities and tasks as Legal Officer include: - Drafting, reviewing, proofreading, negotiating and co-approving various contracts for the FSC Group. - Supporting the filing of legal documents (contracts, correspondence, assessment, certificates, policies, notes, etc.), maintaining databases and creating institutional memory for the Legal Department. - Supporting FSC’s contract life cycle management system and connected processes and team meetings. · Responding to different incoming requests related to contracts or connected projects. - Supporting the procurement of legal services by:<ul><li>responding to internal requests for the purchase of legal services;</li><li>conducting RFQ (request for quotation) and RFP (request for proposal) processes for legal services including review, negotiation, reporting and alignment with the legal and/or finance team;</li><li>serving as the co-liaison person between FSC’s procurement team and the legal team;</li><li>answering questions concerning the proper implementation of applicable procurement policies and procedures related to legal services.</li></ul>- Checking and processing invoices - Collaborating with internal and external clients and to prepare related writs. - Preparing and giving training on internal legal procedures to staff. - Preparation of legal assessment reports and carrying out research activities. - Substitution of other members in the Legal Department. · Individual projects support as assigned. Your profile <ul><li>University degree in law. For lawyers educated in Germany: Minimum First State Examination or a Master degree from a reputable University of Applied Sciences.</li><li>Professional experience as practicing attorney in a law firm or in-house officer in a legal department of an international organization is strongly desired but not mandatory.</li><li>Experience in dealing with authorities, clients, courts and law firms is a plus.</li><li>Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required due to being the daily working language a FSC’s Legal Department. German, Spanish and/or French is a strong advantage.</li><li>Quick cognitive ability and good time management skills: ability to perform well while handling simultaneously several functions.</li><li>Service-oriented attitude to work focusing on solving legal challenges with a strong sense for diligence and accuracy but also pragmatism.</li><li>Proven ability to plan and organize work proactively.
