About ChargeScape
The U.S. is on track for 50% of all new vehicle sales in 2030 to be electric &ndash; but our power grid was not built to withstand this level of electricity demand, and charging remains a pain point for drivers. With over 80% of EV charging occurring at home, ChargeScape was formed by some of the world&rsquo;s largest automakers (BMW, Ford, and Honda &ndash; with more joining soon) with the mission to enable everyone to access sustainable, affordable energy from a reliable power grid.
ChargeScape&rsquo;s software platform serves as the connective tissue between EV drivers and power utilities, using cloud-based commands to schedule EV charging for the most grid-friendly, low-carbon hours all while putting money back in drivers&rsquo; wallets. We recently launched a founding team of executives with over a decade of experience in EV charging software and are looking to hire a critical engineering leadership position.

THE ROLE
Reporting directly to the CTO, the&nbsp;Senior Manager of Engineering&nbsp;will lead the engineering team&rsquo;s day-to-day operations, ensuring the reliability of our existing platform while driving the development of a new one. You will manage a global team across different time zones, focusing on cloud-native technologies, particularly AWS, and ensuring high-quality project delivery within budget. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape and scale ChargeScape&rsquo;s platform in a fast-growing sector.
Core Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Lead and mentor a global team of engineers working across different time zones, ensuring strong collaboration and high performance.</li>
<li>Oversee the performance, scalability, and compliance of the ChargeScape platform, ensuring it meets industry standards and client needs.</li>
<li>Collaborate with clients to address their technical requirements and deliver seamless platform integrations.</li>
<li>Ensure engineering projects align with business goals, balancing cost-effectiveness with high-quality outcomes.</li>
<li>Lead the design, development, and maintenance of a new cloud-native platform with expertise in AWS technologies like EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, ECS, EKS etc.</li>
<li>Oversee QA processes, ensuring code quality through testing, code reviews, and technical audits.</li>
<li>Manage financial aspects of cloud service usage and team hiring, ensuring alignment with company financial goals.</li>
<li>Act as the technical liaison for clients, ensuring their technical needs are met and platforms are seamlessly integrated.</li>
<li>Manage relationships with third-party providers, ensuring their services are effectively integrated into the platform and aligned with business needs.</li>

THE CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate has:
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.</li>
<li>7+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a management role.</li>
<li>Proven experience managing cloud-native products, with deep expertise in AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, Aurora, etc.).</li>
<li>Strong experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS/EKS) and database management.</li>
<li>Expertise in budgeting, cost management, and delivering engineering projects within financial constraints.</li>
<li>Experience in QA, with a strong track record of maintaining high standards for code quality and reliability.</li>
<li>Familiarity with Agile project management, DevOps practices, ticketing software (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow), and CI/CD pipelines.</li>
<li>Experience managing remote teams across multiple time zones.</li>
<li>Effective communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.</li>

THE ROLE
As a Technical Architect specializing in cloud technologies, you will play a key role in building and scaling ChargeScape's platform.&nbsp;You will be hands-on in designing, developing, and implementing key architectural components that power our cloud-native solution. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will work closely with engineering teams to ensure our platform meets the technical and performance requirements of the business.
Core Responsibilities:

<li>Lead hands-on development and implementation of cloud-native applications leveraging AWS services and open-source technologies.</li>
<li>Collaborate with engineering teams to design and deliver scalable, secure, and reliable cloud-based solutions.</li>
<li>Engage in coding and technical troubleshooting, ensuring architectural integrity while driving best practices.</li>
<li>Design and build out the CI/CD pipelines and champion DevOps principles for continuous integration, testing, and deployment.</li>

THE CANDIDATE
The Ideal Candidate:

<li>7+ years of hands-on experience in software development and cloud architecture.</li>
<li>Proven track record of building and scaling cloud-native applications on AWS, with a strong emphasis on direct technical involvement.</li>
<li>Hands-on experience with a variety of AWS services, particularly EC2, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, IAM, and serverless architectures.</li>
<li>Strong understanding of security best practices for SaaS solutions, especially securing PII data.</li>
<li>Proficiency in microservices architecture and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.</li>
<li>Practical experience in event-driven architecture and serverless computing.</li>
<li>Extensive knowledge of continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) and DevOps principles, with demonstrated success in applying them.</li>
<li>Experience working in an Agile environment, coordinating with stakeholders like the Head of Product, OEMs, and the leadership team to deliver business-aligned solutions.</li>
<li>Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.</li>
<li>AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) are a plus.</li>
<li>Experience in a fast-growing startup or similar dynamic environment, with a focus on getting things done hands-on.</li>
<li>Proficient in programming languages such as Python, Java, and node.js with strong experience in building scalable applications.</li>
<li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.</li>
