Front-end engineering at Actual encompasses two primary challenges:&nbsp;
<ol>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Building elegant and responsive user interfaces with React and TypeScript</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Researching and developing new ways of presenting rich map and terrain visualizations</li>
</ol>

We regard UX to be a fundamental pillar of our platform, and we invest heavily in the work needed to be not just good but outstandingly great. <h2>The Skills You&rsquo;ll Need</h2>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Deep experience building complex, production-level web applications with React or Svelte and TypeScript. A sharp eye for performance tuning and optimization is a plus.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">A discerning eye for UX, with a clear history of working to understand and build for the user.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">A strong demonstrated passion for building interactive 2D or 3D graphical environments, either on the web or in a native context.&nbsp;</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Keen desire to challenge the technical gap that exists between the rich environments and detailed interaction of modern games and the web.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">The ability to jump in and make progress on different levels of the web stack as needed. You absolutely do not need to be an expert at everything, but you should be comfortable with continuous learning and extending beyond your core domain.</li>

<h2>Compensation</h2>
The base salary range for this position is expected to be between $170,000 - $200,000 per year*. In addition, all team members receive meaningful equity and a comprehensive package of benefits and perks as described below.&nbsp;

Frontend Engineer

As a Modeling Engineer at Actual, you will research, design, and implement computational models that translate the scientific principles of sustainability into actionable transformation plans for enterprises and governments around the world. The modeling frontier that you will be helping to develop is broad and exciting, encompassing domains that include energy generation, land management, built-environment planning, transportation, and many others. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">An appreciation for the tradeoffs involved in modeling at different levels of abstraction or detail</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Experience with (or strong interest in) optimizing computational models for high performance in an interactive context</li>
