<h1>Data Analyst</h1>Boston, MA (preferred)Join our small, fast-growing, Boston-based software startup that is helping to fight climate change by improving the energy efficiency of homes across the country!<h3>We’re looking for…</h3>A versatile technical data analyst, data scientist, or data engineer to join our Data Team. The ideal candidate should have the technical proficiency to run database queries, build business intelligence dashboards, and program small internal utilities using Python, Java, R, or other languages. The day-to-day of the role will be varied, collaboratively building multiple projects with the Data team, assisting with customer support, and helping business team members explore product ideas. It will afford plenty of opportunity to learn and sharpen both technical and business skills, as well as learn about home energy efficiency.<h1>Responsibilities</h1><ul><li>Provide analyst support on projects for Ekotrope clients, including database queries, data processing and insight generation, etc.</li><li>Create, configure, and improve data dashboards, reports, etc for both external customers and internal stakeholders.</li><li>Support the business team with data analyst functions, including refining and analyzing business data and gathering information through research and internal data analysis.</li><li>Collaborate with the Customer Success team to provide day to day customer support and technical assistance as needed.</li><li>Build and enhance internal tools to multiply the speed and efficiency of recurring tasks and processes, especially around data analytics.</li></ul><h1>Requirements</h1>Candidate must be excited about the Ekotrope <a href="https://www.ekotrope.com/about-us">mission, vision, and values</a>. A strong candidate will have a demonstrated intellectual curiosity that motivates continual learning of both technical skills and of our customers and business. Candidates should also have some experience (academic or professional) with:<ul><li>Experience performing data analysis in Python, R, etc (not all required).</li><li>Analysis of data sets via SQL queries, programming scripts, Excel, Tableau, PowerBI, or similar.</li><li>Basic object oriented programming principles, or a desire to learn </li></ul>Candidate will be expected to<ul><li>Have strong communication skills, both written and verbal.</li><li>Be highly organized and accountable, able to own projects from start to finish and manage/prioritize their own workload.</li><li>Learn about Ekotrope’s tech stack, programming languages, and value offering to our customers.</li><li>Be interested and curious to learn about our industry (home energy efficiency)</li></ul><h1>Helpful (Not Required)</h1><ul><li>We prefer a candidate that can work from our office in Downtown Boston at least 2 days per week.</li><li>Experience designing dashboards in Tableau (or similar).</li></ul>

Data Analyst

Our <a href="https://www.ekotrope.com/about-us">company values</a> are very important to us, and we are striving to foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment.<h2>Position Overview</h2>We are looking for someone with the ability and desire to work towards the continuous improvement of our home energy modeling software with a specific focus on the energy simulation and support of industry standards and codes, such as RESNET HERS, building energy codes (IECC, ENERGY STAR, etc.) and other energy efficiency programs. Our vision is that this person will become an expert in energy modeling and building science.<h2>Responsibilities</h2><ol><li>Software development to support energy-related software improvements, including:<ol><li>Enhancement and maintenance of the Ekotrope energy simulation engine.  For example, improving the accuracy of heat pump and air conditioner hourly performance models.</li><li>Implementing new codes and standards into the Ekotrope Rating tool, e.g. state energy code paths and utility program reference homes.</li><li>Maintaining and updating currently supported codes and standards, like the RESNET Standards.</li></ol></li><li>Have eye-level collaborative discussions with our other energy model developers to find the best paths forward to improve our calculations.</li><li>Provide energy modeling support to other members of the company and answer some energy modeling questions from our customers.</li><li>Engagement with community and stakeholders, e.g. related RESNET committees and working groups.</li></ol><h2>Requirements</h2><ol><li>Alignment with our <a href="https://www.ekotrope.com/about-us">Vision, Mission &amp; Values</a></li><li>Strong understanding of principles of heat transfer and building science</li><li>Significant software development experience.
