Summary of Role:

We are seeking an experienced supply chain professional to establish and lead a team of supply chain professionals to enable the lowest total cost supply chain, logistics and inventory management solutions for solar power plants and distributed generation sites operated and maintained by our rapidly growing Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team. The supply chain group is a key component of O&M and will be run as a profit center.  The Director reports to the VP of O&M and closely coordinates efforts with Business Unit (BUs) Leaders, support functions and senior managers from the field operations teams.

 

Scope:

The Director of the Supply Chain Team will create scalable Global Commodity, logistics, and inventory management strategies for Power Plant and Distributed Generation sites, operated by O&M, and create a profit center by:

  • Establishing, in close collaboration with the BUs, the sourcing strategy for critical parts and components
  • Establish an inventory management system for critical parts and components
  • Establish pricing strategies to maintain 40% and higher gross margins for the BU
  • Support suppliers’ accountability for cost, schedule and quality, aiding in escalations as needed to ensure effective actions are promptly taken
  • Drive continuous improvement of the existing BOS supplier base through the Quarterly Business Review (QBR) process
  • Collaborate with the engineering and robotics products teams
    • Meet cost targets on the cost reduction roadmap 
    • Establish a process for analyzing and identifying critical parts based on failure rates and difficulty of sourcing
  • Supervise the preparation of negotiation plans and lead negotiations with key suppliers.
  • Ensures negotiated costs and other T&Cs are kept up-to-date in appropriate databases at all times
  • Define and develop a services procurement strategy that can;
    • Enable multi gigawatt volume in key markets
  • Create a best in class procurement services organization
    • Develop services suppliers who can support sites
    • Create a service cost database that enables quick cost analysis
  • Improve existing management operating system which includes;
    • Product delivery tracking status & frequency
    • Budget tracking status & frequency
    • Standardization of the reporting toolset
  • Executive update and reporting
    • Be an executive leader to update organizational progress and status
    • Ensure cross-functional alignment to one source of forecast, order, delivery & cost data

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Supply Chain, Engineering/Technical Degree, and 15+ years of related experience
• Experience leading people and working effectively across functions and across business cultures
• Experience in supplier management and materials management, experience in construction or product development a plus
• Effective project management, negotiation, contract management, and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Requirements

• Master's degree with 15 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• S/he will define a management operating system that aligns each organization internally and externally in a structured and disciplined manner providing a clear cadence for data collection as well as a systematic process for reporting progress to the executive team.
• S/he will work closely with project management teams to create an optimized supply chain support organization that provides clear role accountability, lines of communication and optimizes each organization’s strengths and roles.
•Critical to supporting these activities will be establishing a standard set of supplier readiness metrics, both initial lots and run at rate

•The creation of this supply chain will be the critical success factor enabling to win multi-Giga business opportunities. These efforts will have visibility to all areas of the company requiring executive updates and interaction.
• In-depth knowledge of procurement systems and business/customers, combining with a technical understanding of component manufacturing process and functionality.
• Expert experience as a business leader in procurement strategies and trends.

• 15 or more years of management experience required including experience at an executive level.

• 25% of travel required
