Job Description

About the Role

Head of Product/Technology. You will be the principal decision maker for all technical and UI/UX concerns. This role has the potential to develop into CTO or CPO.

This is a pre-revenue start-up with enough funding to be dangerous, but not nearly enough to be complacent. You’ll need to be the type of person who can take a company from zero to one, believes in the mission, has the talent and grit to get to product-market-fit and the capacity for growing as we scale into something extraordinary.

  • Ship our first product, currently under development.
  • Own the technical decisions, including building the foundation of a product that can scale both as B2C store/marketplace and B2B SaaS product rating products’ sustainability.
  • Collaborate with science, design and marketing teammates to develop and execute a unified vision.
  • Build the data analytics to fully understand the user’s relationship with how information about consumer products affects consumer behavior and decision making and what value we provide to our brand partners.
  • Represent the customer and user, talk to them constantly, learn from how they use our products and extrapolate what they want next/most.
  • Along with the CEO, develop KPIs, quarterly goals and long term strategic plans.

What Makes for a Good Fit

  • Experienced product designer/software engineer (5+ years) who has experience going from pre-revenue to product market fit.
  • You can ship products. This is a hands on role, you need to want to get in the weeds and build your way out.
  • You can hire smart and create and develop talent.
  • You’ve worked in a consumer facing high growth environment, can structure well balanced tests, learn and iterate quickly. Bonus points for understanding NLP/ML integration into the CRM, experience working with AI, and a SaaS model.
  • Integrity, trust, candor and grit. We are a diverse and inclusive team, everyone’s voice deserves to be heard and respected.
  • You can check your ego at the door, and nothing makes you happier than learning from people smarter than you.
  • Desire to save the planet with an uncompromising ferocity.

Bonus Points:

  • Interest in/knowledge of sustainability/hard sciences. Our scoring methodology is highly technical and we have a scary good team of data analysts, statisticians, Ph.Ds and hard-science sme’s building out the NLP model and primary sourced survey. Need to want to play in the same space as very smart people.
  • Experience working in a remote environment. The core team will eventually be based in either DC or NYC, but will be fully distributed for the near future.

Problem we’re solving:

  • There’s no central location for consumers to flip through curated, sustainable products because they are distributed on the internet.
  • “Sustainable” as a word is meaningless. Consumers don’t know what to buy, or why certain products are “more sustainable” than others. This creates consumer confusion and lack of trust. For brands, the legit sustainable ones are unable to differentiate from the ones pretending sustainability.
  • There is no existing measurement score that combines rigorous scientific method + consumer-centric delivery. That’s an opportunity.

Solution:

  • Online marketplace that curates products (beginning with the apparel industry), vetted using our proprietary scoring system, with a customer management system that provides the opportunity to customize the score to your specific values.

Sustainability means something different for everyone; we’re building a solution to match the complexity of the (human x science x product) problem.

  • Equity/Options are on the table. We want you to own the work and fully deserve to reap the rewards.
