Job Description

TLDR, Function and Focus:

  • Advise on how to assess and quantify consumer goods' impact on sustainability within your area of expertise
  • Assist in the next stage of the Sustainability scorecard system development. Work with our team in adjusting sustainability index and survey questions.
  • ~ 8 hours per month time commitment

About the Role

The overarching question we are seeking to answer is: what will convince the average consumer to purchase a more sustainable product? In order to answer that question, we will tackle it from two fronts: the scientific bottom up approach and the consumer facing top down approach.

We've constructed a beta version of our sustainability scorecard that measures the level of sustainability of a consumer product, beginning with the apparel industry. We are creating the means for consumers consumers to compare sustainability scores across brands of similar consumer goods using clear, concise, and trustworthy information quantifying the sustainability impact at the product level.

The model we've developed involves a duel strategy of autonomous web scraping and an NLP algorithm to measure sentiment along with a primary sourced survey that quantifies answers using multi factor analysis.  We are now in the testing stage of our beta version of survey and data analyzation model, refining the types of questions and the scope of the sentiment analysis.

  • Anticipated Start Date: ASAP
  • Duration: 8-10 weeks
  • Hours: ~8 hours/month
  • Location: Remote

Optimal Candidate

  • Advanced degree in a related field, minimum Masters
  • Fields of inquiry include: textiles, supply chain analysis, LCA, fair labor practices, water usage, governance, and manufacturing process (including chemical use and plastics).
  • Flexible schedule allows for the opportunity to work when it suits you, however we do have at least one hour/week reserved for a team meeting.

About the Company

The WSTP group is offering an opportunity for industrious, creative, and determined entrepreneurs to join the venture as we build our audience, onboard strategic partners, and develop revenue channels including affiliate marketing, e-commerce, and software licensing. You'll be working alongside the leadership team and a group of marketing, pr, design, business development and strategy professionals.

This role is open for candidates with a range of experiences, and we will tailor the specific responsibilities accordingly. For the right candidate, there is an opportunity to come on board as a strategic advisor, earning financial compensation and/or equity.

About you

You believe that climate change is an existential threat and that consumer driven solutions will play a significant role in changing consumption habits, product standards, and sustainability thresholds. You have an appetite for working within guidelines but thrive when autonomously prioritizing your efforts day to day. This role is goal oriented: you’ll work directly with the leadership team to structure strategic outcomes but will be expected to devise tactical solutions independently. You love exploring new ideas, testing quickly, learning quicker, keeping what works and letting go of the rest.
