Job Summary: Responsible for the development of a proprietary equipment
QuantumScape is a start-up located in San Jose, California working on new energy storage technology to allow electric vehicles to outperform internal combustion cars. Our leap in energy density and recharge rate is enabled by a solid-state chemistry and cell architecture which also benefits safety. Our quick progress is due in part to a state-of-the-art laboratory facility, highly automated data collection and analysis, and a strong and clear set of values.Do you want to learn about and work on this critical part of the future energy economy? We're looking for experienced, highly motivated engineers to develop equipment to process our novel battery materials.In this role:You will be responsible for aiding the design, build, test and manufacture of a proprietary equipment which is integral to the company’s success. You will work with process and design team members who are responsible for previous and subsequent processing steps to determine the specifications of the equipment. Your responsibilities will include design, analysis, programming, debugging, testing, and modification of controls systems related to automated capital equipment. Experience and exposure to other equipment platforms related to automation, assembly or test is required. Requirements:Experience and EducationBS or higher degree in mechanical, electrical, software or other engineering fields10+ years of proven experience with equipment design, automation and integration from R&D to manufacturing environmentsExperience with supplier management and/or collaborating with remote engineering teams.Experience in the design of robotics and automation capital equipment.Installation and support of equipment into productionSkills, Knowledge and abilities:Determination of equipment specificationsEquipment quality assurance and documentation during all phases of development and implementationStrong PLC programming experience, Allen-Bradley and Beckhoff preferredStrong understanding of tool systems and controls, including motion control, industrial interfaces (DeviceNet, serial communications, Ethernet, etc.).Experience in applications such as, but not limited to, C#, C++, TwinCat 3, RSLogix, Visual Studio.A strong understanding of SEMI (S2, S8, S22 and F47), NFPA 79 and UL standards.Experience with electrical and Control system documentation, including System Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, BOM, Control Enclosure Layout, Power and Interlock Schematics.Experienced in CAD.5% travel required.Excellent communication skills and positive attitude required.
