Job Description

The Building Automation Sales Engineer helps our sales team with the building systems evaluation stage of the sales process and follows jobs through to completion. You will support our sales and support teams, and will be a key technical advisor and product advocate for our products.

You will be the subject matter expert in helping the sales team determine the correct application of our smart building controls technology. You must enjoy problem-solving; technical challenges and working with customers. The Building Automation Design Engineer must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users. Must be able to identify all technical issues and assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process. This requires developing a proficient understanding of 75F online portals, mobile apps, and our Android tablet; having HVAC knowledge will help bridge communication with customers. Must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales and implementation cycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Develop and deliver product demonstrations
  • Prepare bill of materials for sales order
  • Convey customer requirements to product management teams
  • Support sales team’s efforts through timely specifications, drawings, and review of documents as required
  • Clearly communicate with general contractors and facility managers
  • Document floorplan, wiring schematics and control sequence
  • Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
  • Ensure successful commissioning and launch of product for customers

Qualifications:

Ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven track record in technical sales and knowledge of building control systems, HVAC control sequences and solid design background. Comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base. Must possess strong presentation skills and be able to communicate professionally in written responses to emails, RFPs, and when submitting reports. Organized and analytical, able to create accurate designs in Visio while understanding real-world application of the product and mechanical components.

Education and Experience (Recommended):

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field is strongly preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3-5+ years relevant experience in building controls and HVAC or related technical design and sales

Other Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude / mechanical HVAC experience preferred. Ability to understand HVAC and lighting control systems required.
  • Experience with system integration and creating complete project quotes for projects is a plus.
  • Experience with applicable tools (Visio, MS Office, etc)
  • Familiarity with BAS network layouts for different field protocols, including Lon, BACnet, Modbus, and 3rd party protocols
  • Should have good understanding of electronics and be capable of troubleshooting electromechanical systems.
  • Exceptional analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn new applications quickly
  • Involvement and contribution to ASHRAE standards and guidelines is a plus

Travel:

This position normally requires some travel, however due to the pandemic, travel is as limited as possible.
