Job Description

Green For All is looking for a Community Engagement Manager to develop and manage a national network of community-based partners and local leaders, to advance a bold national strategy for building an inclusive green economy. Now in the midst of a global pandemic, a crumbling democracy, and a worsening climate crisis, the federal government is poised to spend trillions of dollars to rebuild the economy. Our work is to ensure those funds go toward building a more sustainable green economy that lifts people out of poverty and delivers green for all, not green for some. We will do that by uniting the underdogs in red states and blue states to advance bottoms-up solutions that prioritize directly impacted communities. 

 

The Community Engagement Manager will keep a pulse on local efforts, coordinate support to partners on ground, recruit and train leaders, and lead national engagement strategies that shape the national dialogue and build broad support for bipartisan climate solutions that lift up low income communities and communities of color. The position is managed by the Deputy Director of Programs and works closely with state and federal campaign managers on engagement strategy and tactics. 

 

Responsibilities
Partnerships & Community Relations

 

  • Build and manage a national network of community-based partners working in/with low-income communities and communities of color.
  • Develops and manages relationships with partners and keeps a pulse on the ground to ensure our strategies and actions are responsive to the needs of low-income communities and communities of color. 
  • Identifies and executes on opportunities to elevate, amplify, and advance strategically-aligned local efforts by lending support.
  • Where available, oversees the distribution and allocation of Green For All funding, capacity, or resources that are being directed to partners to enhance their engagement on strategically aligned priorities.
  • Works with partner organizations to identify and uplift policy examples and case studies of inclusive green economy solutions that work.
  • Plans and organizes events and virtual spaces that foster connections between and among community-based partners working across issues and geographies. 


Issue Education & Communications

  • Develops training materials and provides issue education and training (i.e. teach-ins, workshops, webinars) to local leaders and storytellers.
  • Works with partner organizations to help identify directly impacted voices and uplift their stories via Green For All media and communications, to shape the public dialogue. 
  • Represents Green For All as a public speaker at partner events, stakeholder convenings, conferences, etc. as needed.
  • Engages partners to participate in and amplify digital and in-person actions, events, and narrative change campaigns (e.g.,. asking for amplification on a day of action, etc).
  • Works with campaign managers to engage partners and mobilize supporters when there’s specific efforts they could plug into in their states.

 

Program Support

  • Maintains partner contacts and notes in Salesforce database. 
  • Regularly tracks and reports on progress toward goals, and contributes content for grant reports, supporter emails, and other program communications.  
  • Other activities and projects, as assigned.

Qualifications 

  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience leading multi-state or national issue-based advocacy campaigns or coalitions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial justice, economic justice and/or climate justice, with working knowlege of climate and clean energy, clean transportation, or green jobs and workforce issues.
  • Demonstrated skill and ability to navigate complex racial and political dynamics to build support among partners across the political spectrum and across movements or sectors toward a common goal.
  • Proven track record of using relationship and coalition building skills to advance policy and solutions-oriented campaigns.
  • Strong facilitation, and conflict resolution skills. 
  • Dynamic presentation skills and ability to train and build leadership capacity among volunteers and emerging leaders.
  • Ability to synthesize and clearly community complex information for diverse and mass audiences (e.g., volunteers, partners, funders, media) 
  • Strong project management and creative problem solving skills to move projects or campaigns from an idea to implementation.
  • Dynamic, proactive leader who is self-driven, highly reliable, and is able to work productively independently and remotely while remaining communicative and accountable through Slack, Email, Phone, Salesforce, Asana, etc. 
  • Flexible and adaptable work style and interest in being part of a dynamic, evolving team and organization.
