As the Vice President of People, you will be responsible for developing a world-class employee experience for our team and oversee the functions of human resources, talent acquisition, and facilities.  We are invested in the engagement and growth of our team, and looking for a seasoned business leader who understands the critical importance of human capital, organizational development, and a mission-driven culture. The ideal candidate will have managed Human Resources in a scaling company, ideally, one that has grown from one hundred to several hundred people. You are fluent in organizational development, employee relations, talent acquisition, and workforce management, and you have deep experience building employee programs that support a high-performance culture. You can demonstrate the ability to help a company scale while sustaining a culture where impact and employee engagement are core tenets of strategy.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and refine people processes that promote our core values while supporting a high-growth environment
  • Help our executives, team leads, and managers prepare for Aspiration's growth, scale, and complexity
  • Lead and direct strategic talent planning across all revenue streams of the business
  • Lead the continuous creation and iteration of effective recruiting programs that attract and hire great talent in both hourly and salaried roles
  • Develop programs that make Aspiration an attractive place to work including career pathing and performance management
  • Develop and execute effective on-boarding/orientation programs
  • Implement training programs that 1) Assist managers in supervising and motivating their direct reports, and 2) Help employees grow their skills sets, continuously improving their performance
  • Continue to strengthen our benefits and retirement (401k) programs and play an integral role in negotiating favorable terms with third party providers
  • Play a key role in compensation management ensuring fair and equitable hiring, retention, and compensation practices
  • Create, communicate, execute and manage the HR budget
  • Ensure team members are equipped with required tools, processes, and procedures to create an effective and efficient organization
  • Audit and ensure company compliance with employment laws
  • Drive internal communications initiatives and implement programs to drive transparency across the organization 
  • Coach employees in developing organizational and leadership capabilities
  • Develop programs to enhance employee morale and recognize employee contributions
  • Oversee processes to ensure the security, confidentiality, and integrity of employee records
  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments, and applicable laws regarding human resources

What You'll Bring

  • 10-15 years of proven success in leading, building, and managing highly effective people operations teams
  • Expertise in HR regulations and compliance
  • Strong leadership skills that inspire commitment to achieve exceptional employee engagement, teamwork to deliver results, transparency of performance, flexibility to shift priorities and mobilize resources with urgency
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Experience with the systems and tools being used by best-in-class tech companies
  • Background in tech startups is highly preferred, experience in mission-driven cultures is a plus
