Job Description

Position Scope

As a member of the advanced development team you will be responsible for process and equipment development needed for new markets and broader commercial opportunities for CE’s Direct Air Capture and Fuel Synthesis products. This is a hands-on position working with lab equipment to benchtop systems and collaborating with operations on pilot scale systems.

  • Reports to the Director or Advanced Development.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and document experiments in the lab for technology proof-of-concept, and benchtop equipment for system capability demonstration and characterization.
  • Coordinate with the Operations team for extended runs and shared resources. Compile data and clearly document results.
  • Execute or coordinate maintenance and upgrades to the lab, benchtop, and pilot plant equipment.
  • Create and maintain operation, safety, and maintenance documents for lab and benchtop equipment.
  • Train and certify new users on the operation of Advanced Development equipment.

Qualifications:

Education: B.Sc. in Chemistry, Physics or Chemical Engineering Experience: minimum of 1 year experience of relevant process and research development experience

  • Experience in research or industrial laboratory setting. Competence in standard analytical techniques and lab procedures.
  • Effective use of statistical analysis and design of experiments to solve complex problems.
  • Gas chromatography and analytical experience would be an asset.
  • Experience with data acquisition/control systems and programming will be considered an asset.

  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently towards multiple deadlines with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on experience and comfort working in a development environment.
  • Thrive on doing things that have not been done before (explorer mindset).
