Your role and your team:

We are looking for an outstanding Team Lead Multiphysics to join our innovative team to shape the future of urban e-mobility.

In this senior position you will have the exciting opportunity to lead a team of exceptionally talented engineers and contribute to the design of various aircraft systems, e.g., the aircraft engine, IPS, HVAC and the energy storage system. You will lead the development of validated multiphysics calculation tools, processes and best practice guidelines. This position reports to the Head of Calculation and collaborates with colleagues across the engineering division.

Your Day to Day:

  • Lead a team of talented engineers working on a variety of disciplines ranging from aircraft engine and electronics cooling to aircraft icing and battery and aircraft thermal management.
  • Perform low-fidelity (analytical, 0D/1D) and high-fidelity (CFD) multiphysics calculations to drive the design of various aircraft systems (aircraft engine, IPS, HVAC, energy storage, etc.)
  • Liaise with multiple stakeholders across the engineering organization to identify potential application cases and the suitability of analysis and optimization methods.
  • Provide ongoing guidance and support to all engineers in the Multiphysics Team.
  • Specify development goals, identify training needs and conduct performance reviews to foster the development of the people in the team.
  • Author and review high quality technical documentation.
  • Establish a broad set of validated low- and high-fidelity calculation methods as well as engineering processes and guidelines.
  • Actively help driving the growth process of the team and the department by recruiting and developing exceptional talent.

Your Profile:  

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a similar position.
  • Proven track record in successfully driving product development projects related to aircraft engine cooling, HVAC, icing protection systems, battery thermal management, with analytical and computational methods.
  • Demonstrated experience in validating designs and calculation methods by using experimental measurements.
  • Excellent knowledge in state-of-the-art computational methods as well as low-fidelity (empirical, 0D/1D) methods.
  • Proficiency in working with CFD software (preferably STAR-CCM+), system simulation tools (Amesim, Simulink, Simscape) and scripting languages (Matlab, Python).
  • Strong background in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, aircraft icing and familiarity with various thermal management concepts.
  • Proven experience in leading and developing multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong project management and technical leadership skills.
  • Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment.
  • Strong motivation to help build structures and processes.
  • High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomously.
  • Fluent English language skills are essential, any other languages would be beneficial.
