We're Cruise, a self-driving service designed for the cities we love.
We’re building the world’s most advanced, self-driving vehicles to safely connect people to the places, things, and experiences they care about. We believe self-driving vehicles will help save lives, reshape cities, give back time in transit, and restore freedom of movement for many.
Cruisers have the opportunity to grow and develop while learning from leaders at the forefront of their fields. With a culture of internal mobility, there's an opportunity to thrive in a variety of disciplines. This is a place for dreamers and doers to succeed.
If you are looking to play a part in making a positive impact in the world by advancing the revolutionary work of self-driving cars, join us.
The Motion Planning team creates the desired trajectory for the AV using high resolution trajectory optimization methods that consider dynamic feasibility, constraint satisfaction for safe driving (such as obstacle avoidance), and comfort.
We collaborate with Maneuver Planning on the overall planning stack architecture, decision-making algorithm development, and how best to separate contextual decision-making from high-fidelity trajectory optimization. We work with Vehicle Controls on vehicle modeling, path following, and interfaces to lower controls layers to ensure that the physical vehicle is able to smoothly and accurately execute the planned trajectory.
Our algorithms are directly responsible for determining the trajectory of the AV, and thus our work is critically important for the success and safety of the Cruise product. Our work involves knowledge of the latest methods in numerical optimization, a deep understanding of vehicle dynamics and control, and awareness of all of the contextual nuances of human driving and higher level planning. We push the boundaries of numerical computation while ensuring the robustness needed to achieve safety in all real-world scenarios.
We are looking for a model predictive control / trajectory optimization specialist to help us formulate, implement, tune and test our trajectory optimization algorithms to more safely and smoothly drive the car through challenging situations and conditions.
