ChargePoint is seeking a Test Development Engineer with a broad range of relevant skills, interests and aptitude for a position in the test engineering team. Our test systems are deployed to our manufacturing locations and interact with our products' software, electrical and mechanical components during the manufacturing process. Their output is used for on-going quality purposes and provide feedback for product and process improvements.

In this role you will be testing first prototypes for certification and support in developing a proper End of line testing in accordance to the applicable regulations, especially for MID and Eichrecht. This includes the guidance and training of engineers, which will design the test bench and those who will run these test benches. Furthermore the requirements have to be implemented into the corresponding Quality assurance system, which you will support to build up as well.

Other responsibilities include engineering automated functional testers to ensure our analog, digital, RF, optical, acoustic and mechanical sub-assemblies and systems are manufactured, programmed, configured and assembled to our specifications. You will leverage and develop your SW and HW experience as well as knowledge of high volume manufacturing. You will be involved with testers throughout their entire lifecycle and interact with all of the engineering teams at ChargePoint. You will also support local and remote manufacturing and quality engineers through hands on failure and manufacturing data analysis.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Manage projects through the entire test development lifecycle

  • Participate in product design reviews

  • Develop test plans for PCBAs and systems with embedded controllers

  • Design test and measurement systems

  • Develop instrument drivers using Python 

  • Define requirements for test HW and work with vendors to develop custom electrical interfaces and mechanical fixtures

  • Assemble, debug and qualify new test systems

  • Travel internationally to manufacturing facilities to support NPI and test HW updates (5-10%)

  • Analyze test data to support manufacturer's engineers with complex failures and detect potential quality issues

  • Hands on debugging of electrical and mechanical assemblies

  • Develop and conduct experiments to identify quality issues

Requirements

  • 4yr undergraduate science or engineering degree

  • 5 -7 years experience

  • Developed SW that automated communication with instrumentation and collected data

  • Developed SW that automated the analysis of data

  • Learned to read schematics, basic circuit theory and the function of common electronic components

  • Hands on experience with mechanical assemblies

  • The candidate would ideally have experience in planning and conducting laboratory measurements with EV chargers (e.g. using and programming electronic sources and loads, working with HV components, understanding how a charging session as per IEC 61851-1 works, “being creative” in solving all those usual lab issues
