QuantumScape is located in San Jose, California working on new energy storage technology to allow electric vehicles to outperform internal combustion cars. Our leap in energy density and charge rate is enabled by a different chemistry and cell architecture which also benefits safety. Our quick progress is due in part to a state-of-the-art laboratory facility, highly automated data collection and analysis, and a strong and clear set of values.Do you want to learn about and work on this critical part of the future energy economy? As a part of our Cell Development team, you will develop cell prototypes, test platforms, and production processes to help put this technology on the road.
Responsibilities:
Develop half-cell, full-cell prototypes in conjunction with electrical qualification, improve performance characteristics of next-generation batteriesAnalyze battery test data, organize and communicate findings to the larger team, and suggest new pathways for developmentMaintain a clean, organized lab workspaceImprove build processes prototype and production cell builds and recommend corrective actionsGenerate quality experimental results to inform data-driven decisionsContribute significantly in the lab perform electrochemical and physical characterization experiments, improve existing characterization tools, and develop new tools as neededPropose research strategies and design experimental plansReview scientific literature on battery technology to synthesize new ideas
Experience and education:
BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Material Science (or equivalent) with 0-2 years of experience working in a R&D environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Prior experience working with thin film deposition methods, rheology optimizations, slurry formulations and casting is preferred Experience in coin, pouch, Swagelok cell assembly, electrical measurements is strongly preferred Competent in safe laboratory practices especially in handling powders, solvents and chemicalsOrganized and detail-oriented in recording and managing experimental activityAbility to communicate clearly and openly; strong affinity for teamworkProficiency in MS office suite, and willingness to learn additional specialized programsYou love working closely with a team in an energizing environmentWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
