Where in the world of OVO will I be working

The OVO Smart Platform Team is responsible for maintaining the end to end delivery of Smart capabilities into the OVO business. The team structure is split in to 3 key pillars: Platform Infrastructure - responsible for ensuring that our infrastructure is maintained and that changes are and delivered in a controlled fashion

Performance - responsible for ensuring our solutions are optimised to ensure continual effectiveness. In addition providing expert guidance to colleagues to support the ongoing improvement of the platform.

Programme -responsible for delivering new capabilities to relevant business areas utilising appropriate and scalable methods, ensuring that core OVO objectives are met or surpassed.

The role of the Smart Project Manager sits within the Programme team and will be accountable for managing the delivery of complex changes across our Platform. Technologies can range from meter technology (installed within members homes) to back end systems, industry platforms and everything in between. They will act as the key interface between teams across all OVO brands and will be required to build and lead strong multi-skilled teams who are able to deliver change effectively. 

What will I be doing?

  • Provide dynamic leadership,pulling together operational teams from across our business who are focused on delivering exciting new technologies
  • Possess expert Project Management knowledge of delivery methods, applying Agile principles wherever possible
  • Take responsibility for a variety of delivery projects, maintaining high quality standards to achieve successful outcomes
  • Provide input and guidance to develop our bespoke delivery framework, incorporating best practice, experience and feedback from regular project retrospectives
  • Have a keen understanding of how delivery affects our colleagues and customers to ensure that effective transition/business change plans are put in place 
  • Play an active role in sharing knowledge within our team to support collective development and contribute to managing our future workload/backlog planning

Is this the job for me?

  • Good experience in managing complex projects with aspects of both technical delivery and business change
  • Ideally holding a Agile Practitioner level certification, or failing that demonstrable experience of using Agile methods in practice
  • Familiar with using the Agile toolkit and associated ceremonies for delivery of projects
  • High degree of commercial awareness, with experience of working with and managing 3rd parties 
  • Experienced in being able to scale the delivery approach in line with the size of delivery
  • Able to manage and influence key stakeholders across all levels of our organisation and external parties
  • Experience of taking a technically complex scenarios and presenting them in a way that less technical colleagues can understand

The following experience would be desirable:

  • Knowledge of Smart metering solutions and platform architecture, such as: meter technology/firmware, middleware/orchestration, metering/billing platforms and/or DCC and industry systems.
  • Understanding of industry led Smart initiatives such as: Enrolment and Adoption, Faster Switching, Export, Meter eligibility, Alt-HAN
