Job Description

WHO YOU ARE

As the Senior Accountant - Financial Reporting, you will be responsible for preparing quarterly and annual financial statements and ensuring compliance with GAAP and Company policies. As the Company grows, you will partner with the CFO and Controller to develop and improve the Company’s controls, policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 

  • Assist in the preparation and completion of the Company’s annual financial statement audit, including the preparation of the front financials, disclosures, audit schedules, and required support.
  • Drive timely resolution to auditor questions and requests.
  • Research technical accounting matters to ensure compliance with Company policy and GAAP in various areas including revenue recognition, fixed assets, inventory valuation/costing, manufacturing start-up activities, joint development and collaboration activities, government grants, leases, investments, intangible assets, stock compensation, consolidation, and other topics.
  • Responsible for partnering with the Controller and Legal team to ensure compliance, billing and reporting for all grants received by the company
  • Partner with various teams and functions to understand the nature of transactions, provide guidance on applicable accounting, and in some cases review and propose feasible alternatives to contract structuring to promote efficiency, accuracy and completeness of accounting.
  • Prepare accounting positions that can be developed into policy and review with Company’s management and external auditors. When appropriate, required, or requested, ensure the timely preparation of accounting memos to document research and application to Sila.
  • Identify, assess and document the accounting implications of new accounting standards or pronouncements, non-routine transactions, and provide technical guidance on ad hoc company initiatives.
  • Support monthly accounting activities as required, including account reconciliations and periodic close activities.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including a combination of public accounting and industry experience in a large, multinational manufacturing company
  • Big 4 experience preferred
  • CPA required
  • Extensive experience with technical accounting research and GAAP reporting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Prefer experience with mid to large-scale ERP systems in a manufacturing environment (Sage X3, SAP, Oracle, JDEdwards, Epicor)
  • Proficient with Google Apps (Gmail, Docs, Sheets)
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Move long distances (such as from building to building) and be stationary for extended periods of time
  • Operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, copier/printer, etc in a fixed location
