Summary
Jupiter is looking for a geospatial data engineer with an interest in making data easily discoverable and interoperable across our different geophysical modeling pipelines. You will be involved in the development and implementation of new and innovative geospatial methods and techniques on different kinds of multivariate geophysical datasets spanning spatial and temporal scales. Your work will facilitate and add to research and development in hydrology, applied climatology, applied statistics, and machine learning.  
Duties and Responsibilities
-Collaborate with the science and software development and engineering teams to integrate geospatial solutions into climate, weather, and hydrodynamic modeling pipelines -Implement cutting-edge geospatial methods and algorithms into reproducible workflows for data analysis and visualization -Discover, acquire, assess quality of, and harmonize different geospatial datasets-Expand the company’s geospatial capabilities with new open-source algorithms, methods, techniques, tools, etc. -Be a technical resource and provide guidance to members of the science and business teams on geospatial best practices, tools, and methods
Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of four years experience applying or developing geospatial tools, methods, algorithms, etc. and working with disparate data sources. This could include coursework, academic research, work experience, or a combination. Masters or PhD in geography, environmental science or related scientific discipline is a plus, but not essential.-Experience with open source tools like QGIS, GRASS GIS, etc. -Experience working with GeoTiff as well as other geoscience data in their native formats (e.g., Grib, Zarr, NetCDF, HDF, etc.)-Proficiency in Python programming, especially numpy, pandas, gdal, rasterio, xarray, etc.. -Experience with software engineering best practices and agile development is a plus, but not required. -Experience in public cloud computing environments is a plus, but not required-Ability to work independently in an interdisciplinary environment
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
