Job Description

Overview:

Reporting to the Director Strategic Sourcing, this position will be responsible for developing the supplier landscape for Assigned Commodities, negotiate our supply contracts and achieve the Sunrun cost and quality targets.
The Sr. Category Manager coordinates product requirements across departments and evaluates the strength, weaknesses and risks of potential suppliers. The Sr. Category Manager works with the internal teams and the suppliers to improve product quality, business processes and total cost of ownership.
The Sr. Category Manager is the interface with suppliers and finds solutions for any potential issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand the business, technology and code requirements for assigned commodities
  • Develop and analyze the supplier landscape for existing vendors and new entrants and emerging technologies; identify key suppliers
  • Create and regularly update Cost-Value Analysis for main suppliers. Evaluate suppliers and product capabilities, including technology, quality, operational and finance aspects
  • Develop and propose sourcing and negotiation strategies
  • Establishes and implements strategies for negotiating supplier/commodity agreements based on in depth knowledge of foreign and domestic markets and to achieve optimal pricing and terms
  • Lead RFQ process, quotation analysis, contract negotiation and contract award to achieve Sunrun goals
  • Provides project management support. proactively identifying and mitigating risk to key supplier programs and products
  • Manage existing contracts, changes, amendments and dispute resolution
  • Work with stakeholders to scorecard suppliers as part of Supplier Relationship Management
  • Constantly monitor financial and operational health of suppliers
  • Prepare and lead the Quarterly Business Reviews – involve other departments as needed
  • Create strategies, approach, and deployment for supplier quality programs and initiatives. Including risk identification and mitigation efforts
  • Build a Supplier Management Process with appropriate reviews/controls to become sustainable across the organization
  • Drive cost, technology and value improvements with suppliers across the Supply Chain
  • Up to 30% travel may be required

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Abilities 

  • Minimum 5 years procurement and strategic sourcing skills and experience with an international supplier base
  • Excellent knowledge of purchasing principles and practices  
  • Good understanding of PV markets in general and excellent network within the industry
  • Negotiation skills; proven in an international environment (US / Europe / Asia)  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and organizational abilities  
  • Ability to make decisions and resolve problems in a timely manner  
  • Excellent analytical and teamwork skills. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.  Ability to present complex issues and solutions clearly and concisely and to communicate requirements and constraints related to technical and data analysis
  • Strong interpersonal skills to ensure effective communication with different stakeholders
  • Strong experience to solve issues in an international environment (Asia, Europe and Americas) 
  • Ability to interact with colleagues at various levels of management and influence decisions
  • Proven ability to manage difficult projects from start to finish 
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks concurrently
  • Self-starter with a high level of dedication who can work effectively on an individual and team basis
  • Advanced MS Excel, PowerPoint, Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) and Salesforce skills 

Organizational Relationships: 

  • Receives supervision and guidance from the Director Strategic Sourcing 
  • Coordinates with the Procurement Managers and across departments

Preferred Qualifications of the Category Manager: 

  • Electro technical degree and strong business acumen  
  • CPSM, CPM, CPIM or other related procurement/supply chain certifications  
  • Six Sigma or process improvement skills
  • Details oriented Self Starter with a high level of dedication to Bring Solar PV to our customers
