Job Description

Overview:

The Metro Market Leader (MML) is a sales leadership role responsible for overall business performance across Sales and Marketing within a specific geographic region (“Metro Market”).  The MML will be responsible for developing a Market Metro-specific strategy, allocating resources across operational teams, forecasting and budgeting including:

 

  • Leads and lead strategy
  • Customer and product segmentation strategies
  • Sales and marketing talent, recruiting and career development 
  • Execution of lead creation and conversions through Sunrun’s partnerships with big box retailers such as Costco, Home Depot and others within the Metro Market 

 

The MML is accountable for the performance of the Metro Market across Sunrun’s primary business metrics: First Principles results (NPV, cash generation, and installation growth), and the input metrics that drive these results --e.g., lead-flow, gross/net orders, customer acquisition strategy, Metro Market org strategy and building the talent pipeline.  The position will report into senior Sales Leadership. 

 

The incumbent will have a track record of proven leadership abilities (communication, business acumen, relationship building, resource allocation), as well as direct business experience in Sales, Marketing or general management (e.g. Market GM) and extensive experience leading Manager level employees and above.  This role requires interdisciplinary excellence, and therefore candidates must demonstrate a balance of discipline and versatility.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for Sunrun Sales business metrics for assigned Metro Market:  including lead-flow, gross/net orders, customer acquisition strategy, and .
  • Work with cross functional operational leaders to optimize business mix – leads, channel, sales, install and influence performance and outcomes of Metro Market.
  • Review and provide input for a detailed financial forecasts for the Metro Market, including Sales and Install, pricing trends and product mix/characteristics.
  • Co-create measurable and achievable Metro Market quarterly objectives to address new business development, sales targets, managing existing business, and when necessary corporate objectives with the Sr. Leadership team. 
  • Proactively manage regional customer escalations.  Collaborate with other Metro Market leaders to establish, maintain and communicate up-to-date customer requirements and competitive analysis.
  • Maintain a thorough and current knowledge of solar electric market conditions, rebate and tax incentives, and electric utility rate schedules.
  • Hold self and others accountable for measurable high-quality, timely, and cost-effective results.  Comply with established policies and company standards of conduct.
  • Keep key stakeholders involved and informed. 
  • Consistently deliver required business results. Set achievable, yet aggressive, goals. Consistently comply with quality standards and meet deadlines. Maintain focus on personal as well as company-wide and departmental goals.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate and adjust plans to reach goals, while ensuring the optimal use of resources. Monitor progress and use of resources. When necessary, make adjustments to timelines, steps and resource allocation.
  • Utilize employees’ skills and abilities to maximize individual and team performance. 
  • Conform to and complete required and accepted personnel policies, training and procedures.
  • Resolve escalated personnel issues or problems.
  • Partner with Talent to complete and conduct  performance reviews, compensation planning, and talent mapping  

Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10+ years of management-level experience with a strong working knowledge of the Residential Solar Market.
  • Ability to travel weekly within assigned Metro Markets 
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high attention to detail and accuracy in forecasting monthly, quarterly and annual sales for their Metro Market.
  • Experience owning a P&L or other comparable business results.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage competing priorities across different areas of the business.
  • Has been a sales manager in a growth technology or high-end construction industry, preferably the solar industry.  
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a team of sales leaders.
  • Proficient using CRM systems, preferably Salesforce for all tracking and forecasting activities.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in a manner that is well organized, appropriate, and human-centric.
