What You Will Be Doing

As the Senior Firmware Manager at ChargePoint, you will lead a distributed team of firmware engineers. 

What You Will Bring to ChargePoint

  • Lead the design and development of firmware for the various boards that make up our charging stations; the team develops software for custom hardware taking it through schematic reviews, board-bringup, RTOS support, and system integration with Linux based controllers.
  • Manage team of engineers and team leads who are designing new products and supporting our existing installed product base 
  • Collaborate with members of the rest of the software team, cloud, hardware, mechanical, regulatory, test, product and support teams during product design and implementation 
  • Work closely with the platform QA team to build out our automated testing infrastructure 
  • Work with the hardware test team to support system test requirements, factory test fixtures and consistent test approaches
  • Evangelize and promote engineering best practices by actively reviewing software code, design and architecture 
  • Coordinate software delivery schedules and drive teams to meet committed delivery dates 
  • Recruit top engineering talent, and develop the right organizational structure for the team 
  • Lead, coach and mentor direct reports to foster personal growth and teamwork 
  • Maintain and foster a collaborative but challenging work environment 

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver and support embedded software running on commercial/industrial hardware
  • Demonstrated ability and inclination to make critical system-level design decisions and drive projects from start to finish
  • Working with hardware and manufacturing teams to drive products through the xVT hardware product cycle
  • 5+ years managing a distributed firmware development team
  • 7+ years of experience in developing embedded system products using C/C++
  • Expert-level C/C++ coding in a Linux or RTOS environment
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent

Preferred to Have

  • Experience with FreeRTOS or equivalent micro-controller development and integration into autonomous systems - some examples: robotics, automotive, sensor networks, or related.
  • Experience with Linux BSP platform including custom board bring up, U-Boot, kernel, device drivers, file systems (ext4, UBIFS, JFFS2), sound system (ALSA), Camera, and system software 
  • Familiarity with embedded build environments - Yocto, buildroot, GCC, toolchain, Make, CMake, git, gdb, core dumps 
  • Exposure in connectivity architecture using Wireless (Cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC), and wired (Ethernet, CAN) interfaces a plus
  • Working with EV / EVSE products is a big plus
