Job Description

Root AI is a tech company solving the biggest challenges facing agriculture. We are on a mission to rebuild farming from the ground up, starting with advanced robotic systems that can see, care for, and harvest crops. As a venture funded start-up, Root is expanding a foundational team of passionate and talented professionals. Every team member is critical and every decision we make matters.

Given the cross-functional nature of managing mission-critical robotic deployments, this individual will directly work with the company's founding technical and commercial leadership as well as key clients. The job requires a unique blend of engineering prowess, customer intuition, and effective communication. This is a pioneering role to develop the tools Root will leverage to ensure the customer experience surpasses all expectations, from initial deployment to training to troubleshooting.

As a Deployment Project Manager, you will:

  • Develop and track fleet installations, monitor progress to ensure deadlines, standards, and cost targets are met
  • Coordinate internal and external teams for integration infrastructure with customer operations for fleet deployments
  • Manage multi-robot workforce, implement process improvements, and standardize operational procedures ahead of scaling
  • Identify and track key onsite performance metrics that drive data based decisions ensuring customer success
  • Work directly with customers to aggregate requests and key insights to Root’s product team helping prioritize features
  • Communicate actively with Root’s product team to stay up to date on features, fixes and the product roadmap

We’re looking for candidates with:

  • 5+ years experience in project management with a BSE or greater in a relevant technical field (e.g. Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, etc.)
  • The ability to operate with strong attention to detail while being resourceful, methodical, and organized; capable of operating autonomously and managing self-contained initiatives at the business
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to all levels of management
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and deliver results in an environment with rapidly evolving objectives
  • Prior success in fast-paced environments, demonstrating innovative problem solving skills
  • The capacity to travel up to 50% during onboarding; run-rate ratio of 25% travel to support customers and ensure smooth operations

Bonus points if you have:

  • A proven track record in managing a complex operation or deployment with multiple stakeholders, specifically for mission-critical services
  • Experience across quality initiatives, process change initiatives, Lean/Kaizen activities, and other Change/Six Sigma initiatives
