We are currently seeking a Logistics Launch Supervisor. This position requires an experienced professional with the ability to manage the day-to-day chaos that comes from managing the logistical needs of a large-scale operation while also developing and implementing all logistics processes required to have a successful new product launch.  
The successful candidate will have spent considerable time launching new plants and/or new products in an automotive manufacturing environment. This position requires partnership with Program Management, Transportation, Trade Compliance, Manufacturing, Packaging, Material Flow, Warehousing and Facilities to manage timely execution of project launches.

You Will:

  • Ensure all logistics launch activities are coordinated to deliver a flawless launch i.e. Inbound Freight, Finished Vehicle Logistics, Material Flow, Packaging, Warehousing, Assembly Operations and Facility launches worldwide.
  • Develop launch plan & timing that ensures success for the project and track all new project activities, developing dashboards, issuing metrics and facilitating team reviews.
  • Oversee and drive logistics project progress.
  • Prepare comprehensive project reports to assure deliverables are attained within budget, timeline and varied project objectives. 
  • Coordinate business process initiatives to develop logistics cost estimates and operating models for various scenarios.
  • Lead project initiatives and change management activities across all Logistics functions, providing coordination, analysis, formal reporting and recommendations.
  • Facilitate/coordinate logistics launch concerns and provide a regular communication link back to the program and plant senior team.
  • Manage rapid closure of issues to ensure problems are being closed in a timely manner or escalated.
  • Represent Logistics in all launch activities and at each gateway review and ensure regular and robust communication between the project teams. 
  • Document best practices and lessons learned throughout the duration of the program.
  • Establish working relationships with representatives from key organizations related to launch and participate and represent Logistics in Manufacturing Readiness Reviews.
  • Provide input to launch budget development to ensure that it provides required resources to allow plant to deliver launch targets while optimizing part procurement costs.
  • Provide the Logistics needs, wants and lessons learned into new programs.
  • Provide leadership and manage a small team.
  • Occasional travel to support the business may be required.

You Bring:

  • 7+ years of experience in any of the following areas: transportation, warehouse operations, material flow, material planning, packaging or materials handling 
  • 5+ years of related automotive industry experience and LEAN manufacturing
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, effective project planning in terms of resources, strategies, cost, and time with ability to meet project timelines.
  • Experience in using project management tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with success in working across organizations at all levels. Proactive self-starter with strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • A strong curiosity and a resolute mindset toward continuous process improvement with the ability to innovate and simplify both finance and operational processes.
  • Strong computer proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Evidence of the ability to lead and mentor teams.

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Logistics Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.  
  • Master’s Degree in one of these fields is preferred. 
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
