Job Description

Here at Modern Meadow we are harnessing the power of design, biology, and engineering to produce biofabricated leather materials. As we continue to grow, we are seeking to hire a Process Engineer for our Materials Science Process Engineering team.

Responsibilities: 

  • Work with Process Technology team to develop and optimize the production processes for Zoa biofabricated materials. This includes developing product-specific processes and their scale-up criteria, and vetting new raw material characteristics.
  • Familiar with roll to roll manufacturing processes such as textile finishing, coated textiles, and film manufacturing
  • Advance new manufacturing technologies from proof of concept to production scales
  • Set-up quality metrics and ensure the quality of production processes
  • Provide engineering technical leadership for capital projects by providing PFDs, P&IDs and equipment functional specifications for different unit operations involved 
  • Provide process engineering recommendations during the early research and product development phases to ensure the successful tech transfers to commercialize new products 
  • Responsible for continuous improvement of manufacturing efficiency and achieving LCA (Life Cycle Analysis) goals for the company products
  • Perform technoeconomic analysis and maintain updated BOMs to keep the supply chain informed on evolving changes
  • Perform technoeconomic analysis to guide the sponsoring team in making successful business choices for capital projects 
  • Accountable for leading cross functional team efforts to solve technical issues related to product and manufacturing process. Interface with R&D, Product Development, and Supply Chain teams

Requirements: 

  • Qualified applicants will possess Ph.D (or equivalent industry experience) in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials engineering, textile engineering, or other related discipline 
  • At least 2 years industry experience in process development and scale-up of material manufacturing processes 
  • Industry experience with roll to roll manufacturing processes such as textile finishing, coated textiles, film manufacturing etc.,.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing accuracy and quality of work 
  • Experience in experimental design/DOE, statistical analysis/SPC, and process optimization/Cp-CpK
  • Strong team player and good interpersonal skills 
  • Critical thinker, problem solver, innovator, eager to learn/question 
  • Strong commitment to safety and provide safety leadership within the team 
  • Organized and detail oriented, particularly regarding maintaining records and documentation 
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
