Job Description

Wildfires are getting worse - the annual destruction of wildfires has grown by an order of magnitude in the last 10 years, impacting all continents except Antarctica. At Pano, we are building cutting edge technology to combat this devastation. Our goal is to detect and confirm the presence of wildfires within minutes of ignition.

Pano’s first product is a system of “Pan, Tilt, Zoom” Cameras that gather image data to be analyzed by a smoke detection computer vision algorithm. The camera images and corresponding fire alerts are displayed on web and mobile frontends. We are seeking out a Senior Software Frontend Lead to continue the development of our MVP project to bring it to the Pilot software solution.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop the adaptive, single-page React web application for interaction and management of cameras and incidents
  • Proactively address technical issues and risks that could impact delivery timelines
  • Participate in the design of new features
  • Lead and own the scoping, estimation, and development of new features

Working Requirements

  • Our software architect currently works out of Asia, so daily stand-ups are at 6pm PT. This will change in the future as development operations become centered in the US, but flexibility to coordinate in the evenings during the Pilot development is desirable

Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of software frontend development experience, with React, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3 (responsive application dev), RESTful API, JSON, Web Sockets, and custom integrations
  • Experience optimizing performance of JavaScript applications -- i.e. ability to resolve performance-related issues as they arise
  • Full stack experience with different server-side languages such as Python, Java, etc
  • Ability to work in a high-paced startup environment
  • Ability to "roll with the punches" in response to unexpected changes to scope or pivots in dev
  • Self-directed, with an eye for detail, design, and ability to evaluate, QA, and critique your own work effectively
  • Bonus: Technical experience developing applications with custom video or real-time image players
  • Bonus: React Native
