Our quick progress is due in part to a state of the art laboratory facility, highly automated data collection and analysis, and a strong and clear set of values.Do you want to learn about and work on this critical part of the future energy economy?As part of the Product Engineering team, you will develop cell prototypes, test platforms, and production processes to help put this technology on the road.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop and execute experiments for characterizing and validating cell materials and componentsDevelop advanced characterization techniques and maintain equipment for both testing materials properties as well as battery performanceAnalyze battery test data and generate high-quality experimental results to inform data-driven decisionsConduct cell failure analysis and provide feedback to improve cell design and assembly process
Minimum requirements:
Education & Experience:PhD in materials science, chemical engineering, applied physics, or related field preferred or MS with a minimum of 3 years experience in materials/batteries research and development or BS with a minimum of 5 years experience in materials/batteries research
Knowledge, skills & abilities:
Deep understanding of lithium/lithium-ion battery materials, cell manufacturing, and qualification processesDeep knowledge on physicochemical and structural characterization of cell materials and components using various analytical techniques (XRD, SEM-EDX, TEM, XPS, DSC/TGA, X-ray tomography, etc.)You know the properties and trade-offs of engineering materials and processesKnowledge of statistical process control and repeatability/reproducibility techniques You can use tolerance analysis and are familiar with failure modes and effects analysisYou are skilled in quality management processes Familiarity with JMP software, design of experiment, and statistical analysisYou have excellent data analysis and presentation skillsYou love working closely with a team in an energizing environmentWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
