Job Description

In this role, you’ll focus on one of our flagship internal products, FormWare. FormWare is a suite of energy optimization tools that identifies grid needs in a deeply decarbonized world, including the role for Form's multi-day storage. Example early projects may include architecting an app to automate analyses at key steps of our sales cycle, lowering the barrier for the analytics team to run custom analyses, and open-sourcing a version of the core optimization engine. This is a unique opportunity to be one of the first 5 members of a Software team (and one of the first ~100 members of a company) making a direct impact on climate change.

What You'll Do:

  • Identify high-ROI opportunities to improve how our business development, analytics, and product teams get work done today, and keep your eye out for the challenges we’re about to hit
  • Contribute to the core optimization engine of FormWareDesign, architect, build, launch, and support a suite of user interfaces around the core optimization that are tailored to distinct user needs, from CLI to data viz to web apps
  • Advocate for software engineering best practices across the company, and lead by example
  • Fill in gaps on a small team, including acting as a designer, PM, or platform engineer when needed
  • Work as a collaborative member of the Software team

What We're Looking For:

  • At least 5 years of professional software engineering industry experience 
  • Proficiency in full-stack web development with a Python/React/AWS stack, gained through 3+ years of working on apps in production 
  • Knack for eliciting user requirements for data-centric products and designing insightful solutions
  • A pragmatic approach to problem-solving that blends good judgement, clear communication, dependable follow-through, creative use of resources, and joy in the process
  • Excitement for learning about the following (or bonus points for experience!): batteries, utilities, renewables, constrained optimization, data science, business development
Must be able to obtain US work authorization
