THE POSITION
The senior engineer will provide technical, operational and cost benefit economic analysis for portfolio management and other teams within the organization with respect to renewable wind energy sites, ranging from large utility to small municipal installations included in, or being evaluated for inclusion in, the Company’s investment portfolio. The senior engineer will integrate personal experiences with lessons learned from existing Company portfolio sites into the technical, production and OPEX evaluation and recommendations of new investment opportunities. The senior engineer will investigate performance issues, develop improvement solutions, and evaluate recommendations provided by the project sponsor company for existing assets in the Company’s investment portfolio.  The Company does not directly operate projects but proactively investigates and evaluates opportunities to improve the project life-cycle performance, including production, OPEX and other factors.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • For existing operating plants in the Company’s portfolio: Evaluate production, opex and other operational factors affecting expected performance. Monitor, report and proactively seek solutions independently and/or from others, including the project sponsor, with the purpose of improving value to the Company
  • For new investment opportunities: Review, evaluate, draw conclusions and make recommendations regarding the technology and configuration proposed, production forecast, operating approach and OPEX forecast
  • Review and evaluate technical reports and Monthly Operating Reports (MOR)
  • Visit operating plants from time to time to investigate performance related issues
  • Identify, qualify, and manage external professionals and consultants
  • Regularly communicate with internal stakeholders on progress or related activities
  • Communicate as required with professional counterparts from the project sponsor company
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with key stakeholders such as clients, investors, and the Company’s  investments and business development teams
  • Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through analysis, preparation and presentation of technical material to internal and external audiences
  • Utilize software tools to analyze trends

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor´s Degree in Mechanical engineering from ABET accredited college
  • Minimum 15 years wind operations and maintenance and/or wind independent engineering experience including technical/economic desktop and field supervisory assignments 
  • Knowledge of methodologies used to develop production forecasts and the calculation of P50 thru P99
  • Some project execution and construction experience is a plus
  • Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Suite required
  • Creativity and vision to seek opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Possession of comprehensive writing skills
  • Ability to lead technical discussions on all aspects of a wind farm
  • Strong platform or public speaking skills for making presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others as well as operate with a minimum of supervision.
