Where in the world of OVO will I be working? 

OVO Metering is at the heart of bringing Britain’s energy industry into the 21st Century. Field Operations is an integral part in crafting a smart energy system which will mean that our energy networks are run in a completely new way. You’ll be working in one of two Operations teams focussing on performance improvement. 

What will I be doing? 

In Field Operations, delivering great experiences for our customers as efficiently as possible is a key priority. You’ll lead the Change, Benefits Realisation and Communications for the programme of change that your Head of Operations wants to implement in your Region. You will establish and subsequently lead a change programme for several projects simultaneously. You’ll manage and run change workshops, analyse current and future work practices, recommend changes to the way change is deployed to achieve increased efficiency and enhanced effectiveness and record lessons learnt whilst supporting the delivery of cost improvement plans.

Key responsibilities:

  •   Manage the Change Portfolio, provide advice and mentorship, present regular reports in respect of change activity, including recommendations and options, enabling Regional Operations Leadership Team to track progress and enable informed decision making. 
  • Provide regular reporting and direct accountability to Regional Performance Managers on the Performance Improvement & Efficiency Plans as well as providing the quality assurance of all investment business cases, managing the application of operational assessments whilst coordinating appropriate HR and financial oversight to coordinate effective delivery. 
  • Build, develop and critically assess project plans and the alignment of all programmes and projects with targets and objectives, scrutinise performance, manage interdependencies, conduct assessments on project documentation and implementation plans and identify ways of enhancing activity across the portfolio to meet new targets and expectations. 
  • Review the capability of Field Operations to successfully deliver the portfolio of change agreed with your Head of Operations, identify risks and priorities, negotiate for resources, consult with key stakeholders and facilitate activities where possible, in order to secure the planned benefits from the Change Programme and the successful realisation of business benefits.
  • You’ll be required to coordinate, manage and deliver projects across the primary areas of the change portfolio having overall responsibility for the coordination of significant volume and breadth of change. Provide expert advice and guidance, to maintain change priorities, objectives and outcomes whilst ensuring alignment with other Field Operations wide initiatives.
  • Develop business cases and scoping documentation with Senior Managers, identify costs and benefits of new initiatives, advise on best practice and methodology, risk management and project initiation and produce proposals and options for consideration by the Head of Operations.

Is this the job for me?

Ideally you will have:

  •   Experience in planning, delivering and implementing change. 
  • A proven track record and able to understand and respond to the complex demands and requirements of a large organisation. 
  •   Experience delivering changes within a field based operational environment and be able to establish coherent links between regional performance improvement teams to achieve national plans and priorities and ensure savings requirements are achieved. 
  • Strong managerial skills with the ability to provide direction and coordination, engaged in a wide range of change and developmental activities.
  •   A good level of skill and ability to assimilate information from a wide range of sources to write compelling business cases with realistic tangible benefits to justify investment.

Desirable:

  • Experience leading change in a field-based environment for 750+ people (including engineers)
  • An appetite to make meaningful contributions across Field Operations on priorities and objectives not directly relating to change delivery.
