Job Description

Location: Malmö, Sweden

Application closes: March 5th, 2021

"Always happy to support our portfolio whatever their needs are"

The short version

Why: Pale Blue Dot invests in climate tech startups all over Europe and the US. We have made 8 investments to date and will make 30ish more and need a person to help manage our portfolio and build our community. This is a key role that will work closely with our investment team and our amazing founders to support them in various tasks.

What: You help us with recurring quarterly tasks such as gathering data from the portfolio companies for our quarterly and annual reports. You organize meetups, partnerships, and opportunities for our founders and help spread their news on our marketing channels.

Who: You love people and are eager to support others where you can. You have good organizational skills, can keep track of multiple things, and have a positive attitude.

The role

You will develop an onboarding strategy for new portfolio companies and facilitate the full onboarding. You will perform operational duties to support the portfolio such as sending them cards, gifts, etc.

You will organise portfolio meetups, events, and opportunities for the portfolio companies to get to know each other and us better and to facilitate relationships within our network.

You will be responsible for acquiring any information that we need from our portfolio for reports such as our quarterly reports, ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) metrics, and more. Some of this will be in written formats but other updates might be delivered in other formats such as video. You will support the portfolio to set up processes around this reporting to make it smooth and effortless for all parties.

You will help prepare and organise information, training, and other resources that are relevant for the portfolio companies and help build partnerships for their continued growth.

You will keep track and help share information and opportunities such as press releases and job openings from our portfolio with our networks and on our social media accounts.

We're a small team and we all help out when needed and you will also have the opportunity to be involved in organising bigger events, marketing, operations, research and other areas that you may be interested in.

**We’d love to hear from you if… ***

*** =** The qualifications and experiences above are a guide, and we’d still love to hear from candidates with more or less experience, provided the requisite skills can be demonstrated.

Your background

  • We don't think you need to have a specific education or background to do this job well but at least 2 years of experience from roles such as operations, community building, events organization, and marketing would be beneficial.
  • More than 2 years of experience with working in high paced environments and with handling stressful situations and working to tight deadlines is helpful. You also need to be able to handle a lot of different types of people with a positive attitude.

Experience we value **

  • Having founded or worked at an early stage startup would help you understand the founders and their needs.
  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset. You are ok working with some uncertainty and are happy to think outside of the box when things don't go to plan.
  • You have an existing network within the European startup ecosystem.
  • You have used a range or modern document tools (Google Drive, Notion, etc).
  • International experience and having lived and worked in multiple countries and organizations.

Character traits

  • Community builder: You love working with people and get energy from helping others. You thrive in others' success and want to be part of building something greater.
  • Communication: You are good at communicating clearly in various formats and are not afraid to communicate externally both verbally and in written format.
  • Problem solver/Idea generator: You are a problem solver at heart and love the opportunity to find new solutions and improve existing processes. You are always learning and improving what we have.
  • Organisational skills: You can manage multiple tasks to tight deadlines and can set up and organise both online and offline events.
  • Self-managed: You can manage yourself, have own initiatives, and see what's the next step.
  • Compassionate and collaborative: You care about people and the planet. You enjoy working with others and get that the best person for the job might be in another time zone and won't share your native language.
  • Can use "modern" communication tools: You are happy to collaborate in Slack, Zoom/Hangouts, Clubhouse, and other digital bonanza.

Trajectory for the role

There are opportunities for the role to be more external and be more involved in fund brand building and marketing and there is also an opportunity to work more closely on the internal fund platform side. The role is not planned to become an investment role.

A fair chance

Pale Blue Dot is open to applications from all sections of society. We believe that you should be fit for the role, motivated, and experienced enough, regardless of ethnicity, belief or religion, family structure, sexual orientation or gender identity, or anything else that makes you, you.
