Chemist

The Chemist will work alongside an multidisciplinary team of scientists to help build and deliver solutions to customers in difficult to decarbonize industries. Our first focus is scaling our membrane technology for our Pilot and first Commercial system. The Chemist will be responsible for developing technical solutions to support Via’s membrane product development, and will work within the Research and Advanced Development Team to deliver technical execution in the areas of chemical synthesis, membrane fabrication and characterization, while developing testing parameters to validate new formulations. This role has enormous growth potential as Via continues to grow rapidly, scale systems, and expand our scope. 

Responsibilities include:

• Execute synthetic approaches to yield membranes for specific application metrics.

• Validate membrane performance using test methodologies.

• Collaborate with the Development and Product Team to scale syntheses for improved performance.

• Qualify membrane materials through characterization techniques and methods.

• Perform data and statistical analysis of data using tools such as Excel and/or JMP.

• Communicate technical results and challenges across the organization to advance product development. 

Experience & Qualifications 

BS/BA or MS/MA in a chemistry-related field (e.g. Chemistry, Materials Science or similar) with a preference for at least one year of experience in a wet chemistry laboratory environment.

Demonstrated aptitude in executing chemical or materials syntheses.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Travel is required for this role, up to 20%, as is the ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
