Come transform the solar industry. We are changing how commercial and utility scale solar is deployed through a unique blend of software and industry expertise. This work is central to Borrego Energy’s next phase of growth and is high profile within the company. The Project Manager will be at the center of this effort, is the second full time hire onto this team, and will work daily with the product team as well as C-level leadership. 

 

Borrego Energy has been in solar for over twenty years, is 400+ employees strong, and is still on an aggressive growth path under leadership of the original founders. We are expanding our role in solar with this project, as well as entering into energy storage and wind power. It’s a good time to be joining the team.

 

The Project Manager will work daily with the Product Manager to execute anything that keeps the team on track. This person is expected to take initiative and respond to changing needs of a team that’s going from zero to one. This will include standard tasks of agile management like managing sprints, as well as helping engage with internal and external customers, gut checking the team’s ambitions against timelines, being a front line for unblocking team members, and more.

Position duties include but are not limited to:

  • Lead organization of and handle multiple projects of varying size and complexity
  • Work in cross functional teams involving multiple stakeholders 
  • Manage business requirements and scope on a technical level, coordinate between cross-functional teams to ensure adherence to business requirements and architectural direction
  • Facilitate discussions with business leaders to define the scope of work
  • Maintain a plan using agile Project Management tools and report weekly progress based on the plan
  • Assist in breaking down work from roadmaps into actionable work streams
  • Lead project meetings, track actionable follow ups, ensure all parties complete action items, and maintain the overall schedule
  • Thrive in ambiguity with a roll-up your sleeves mentality. Create organization before you are asked.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of hands-on technical project management or program management
  • Demonstrated ability to help teams define clear deliverables and meet them
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate dynamic meetings and discussions including design thinking skills
  • Ability to manage and multi-task across multiple projects and teams
  • Experience in leading Agile methodologies for high profile projects 
  • Experience handling conflicts and negotiating successful outcomes
  • Experience with Salesforce, Smartsheets, Google Sheets, and other business applications
  • Preferred:
    • Certifications in Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), and/or Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent professional experience with references
  • Bonus
    • In addition to your software team experience, experience in the solar industry, or areas of civil, structural, or electrical engineering
    • Technical mindset and strong recommendations from engineers
