Job Description

Financial accountants are expected to have a good understanding of basic accounting concepts and business processes, and some understanding of advanced accounting concepts and larger departmental impacts. They should have some initiative to improve processes and good engagement, and are sometimes seen as a point of authority. They should have strong x-functional collaboration and be organized/precise in quality of thought. Lastly, they are expected to remain flexible in a constantly changing environment, while demonstrating strong planning and prioritization skills.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize month end close by working collaboratively to develop, implement, and execute new accounting processes and systems
  • Record journal entries to accurately reflect appropriate accrual basis accounting transactions for assigned functions in the correct period, including accruals of expenses, amortization of prepaid expenses and fixed assets, etc.
  • Help to develop, implement, and execute new accounting processes and systems
  • Regularly maintain detailed reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts which include prepaid, accrued liabilities, cash, accounts receivable, and more
  • Generate ad hoc reports, provide detailed analyses and explanations of transactions, and complete "one-off" special projects
  • Prepare internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information
  • Support the annual financial statement audit and local statutory compliance requirements
  • Maintain detailed reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, including prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, fixed assets, intercompany, and inventory

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 2+ Years in Public Accounting and/or Industry Accounting
  • Excel/G-Sheets
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures like revenue recognition, accrued expense, and intercompany consolidation 
  • Able to remain flexible in a constantly changing environment, while demonstrating strong planning and prioritization skill
  • Experience in operating systems including, but not exclusive to, NetSuite, Concur, and Bill.com
