As a Staff Vehicle Integration Engineer you will work closely with Embedded Software, Hardware Systems, General Motors, and Program teams to ensure mission critical Cruise products meet key milestones. You will lead a small team of integration engineers, and have dedicated support from engineers across Cruise functions. You will focus on issue identification, triage, and root cause for challenges discovered during integration activities. You will both plan and drive foreseeable Vehicle Integration needs as well as appropriately acting on hot issues as they arise.

 What you’ll be doing:

  • Collaborate with Technical Program Managers to define vehicle integration milestones, activity leading up to those milestones, and expected functionality at each milestone
  • Develop a team of integration engineers, effectively prioritizing the team’s work to root cause and countermeasure major issues that arise on a bench or vehicle that could introduce risk into the program timeline
  • Leverage the appropriate resources--across the company--to solve problems quickly, and move on to the next initiative
  • Define execution processes that strive for streamlined engineering activities with robust quality and excellence
  • Provide regular engineering updates to leadership on progress toward key deliverables
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with cross-functional groups, including technicians, operators, engineers, and external partners
  • Drive a culture of safety at all times

What you must have:

  • Ability to collaborate across teams and organizations
  • Track record of success resolving HW and SW integration issues
  • Strong intuition regarding issue prioritization and escalation
  • Ability to read through vehicle and component schematics, datasheets, and communication architecture
  • Passion for autonomous technology and growing and mentoring teams
  • 10+ years of experience working in automotive, robotics, consumer electronics, or aerospace industries
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience

Bonus Points!

  • Experience in interfaces between the vehicle platform, actuators, vehicle software and communication network
  • Understanding of vehicle communication protocols (CAN / CANFD, LIN, Ethernet, etc).
