Role: Senior Marketing Manager (FTC)

Location: London/Bristol

Where in the world of OVO will I be working? 

Retention is a cross functional team responsible for engaging with and retaining our loyal members. We focus on getting the basics right, identifying the pain points and building experiences that create engagement turning our customers into fans, at every touch point of their journey with OVO.

As a Senior Marketing Manager reporting into the Commercial Director, you will be responsible for understanding all points in the customer journey where members churn and why. Using this information, you will develop strategies to prevent losses using a test and learn approach and continue to iterate and improve on the campaigns you put in place. You will work closely with the Retention Product Team to ensure a joint focus on the areas that will have the biggest impact on long term retention.

What will I be doing?

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with stakeholders across the group to understand why and when customers churn
  • Reevaluating the renewals journey to ensure excellence, consistency and a high conversion rate across all touchpoints - email, online, phone and social 
  • Working closely with stakeholders across the group to define, monitor and report on performance against key retention metrics - losses (in contract, end of contract and LT & ST variable), refixes and rolled variable rates
  • Working closely with Data Science to ensure a highly targeted approach for all campaigns and adjusting approach to maximise conversion rates for each customer segment
  • Using a test and learn approach to continually iterate on retention campaigns and improve conversion rates
  • Promoting the automation of fully tested customer excellent comms, together with Product and CRM teams
  • Developing compelling, engaging and clear content for our members to drive loyalty 
  • Designing & delivering marketing campaigns to existing members
  • Identify opportunities to drive engagement with our zero carbon journey across the retention customer journey (including OVO Beyond and smart meter uptake)
  • Lead and mentor a high performing team to build and execute marketing strategies
  • Collaborate with the OVO Group including SSE to embed a culture of continuous improvement and best-practice sharing

The Senior Marketing Manager should be a confident manager of diverse stakeholders and complex business priorities, with retention/loyalty experience and always striving to do the right thing for our customers.

Ideally you will have/be:

  • Confident in translating complex customer journeys, data and analysis into an actionable strategy and content to promote simplicity
  • You will have great strategic, operational, technical and creative instincts, along with impressive organisation/ project management skills
  • A balanced approach to every situation being able to clearly understand the brand and commercial implications of every decision, strategy and comm to provide great recommendations that further drive simplicity and engagement with our customers.
  • You will have experience managing multiple stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered on time and you will be adept at “upwards management” ensuring the right people are engaged at the right times
  • Working experience of working closely with product teams
  • Strong experience in preparing and engaging others on marketing strategies and business cases
  • 5+ years experience in email marketing including test and learn strategies working closely with CRM teams to deliver timely, engaging comms
  • Familiarity with Salesforce Marketing Cloud is a plus
  • Highly capable manager requiring 3+ years experience in managing and mentoring a team
  • Data driven with strong experience in performance management
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build good relationships with stakeholders
  • A team player able to work well independently to solve problems and make decisions
  • Detail-oriented and thorough
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-changing environment - you thrive on change
  • A fast learner with an optimistic outlook.
