The role of the Technical Development Manager is to delight Indigo growers with world-class crop advisory services based on technical insights gained from their own European trials and Indigo’s broader technical pool of insights. Indigo Technical Development Managers will have the opportunity to work with a group of forward-thinking growers, science institutes and contract research organizations.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to planning, implementing and analyzing field trials as well as synthesizing and effectively communicating insights from trials, field scouting, crop monitoring, regenerative ag and inputs recommendations, soil sampling, and crop budgeting/planning with the ultimate goal of maximizing grower profitability via crop yield and carbon credits. The Technical Development Manager will have the opportunity to create lasting relationships with a core grower base, adjacent scientific organizations and to partner with Indigo Account Managers to help growers succeed financially and promote sustainable, biological products as well as regenerative farming practices that are good for the environment.

Key Outcomes

  • Builds relationships and trust across Indigo’s global technical community as well as the European team and our customers 
  • Develops Indigo’s portfolio of products and manages all appropriate studies and regulatory dossier creations with contractors and/or internal teams (manages small plot and large strip trials, leads generation of insights from trial data, participates in portfolio advancement process)
  • Demonstrates the value of Indigo’s technology through all appropriate means
  • Acts as the technical counterpart for in-market commercial colleagues
  • Plans and implements European CRO, LRT and all other field trialing programs* - including registration trials
  • Geographical area is Europe with a short-term focus on DE, FR, HU, UK that will be extended to neighboring countries when the need arises

Key Competencies

  • Skillful communication of agronomic/technical subjects; internally and externally
  • Deep understanding of agronomy, product evaluation, microbiology and regenerative agriculture
  • Experience with and high interest in microbial biostimulants, microbial plant protection and seed treatment technology
  • Able to interpret trial results, scientific literature and tech tools to provide data driven information and insights
  • Loves continual learning, agile in approach
  • Proven relationship management skillset

Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in an agronomy/trialing role; leadership experience is a plus
  • Bachelor or higher degree in Agronomy, Agro-Ecology or a similar field
  • Experience in a European core market managing trial series, technical/agronomic grower advice or similar
  • Has strong knowledge of farming, may have farming background
  • Solid understanding of regenerative ag and managing conversion challenges (e.g. weed or pest pressure) a strong plus
  • English language skill a must; command of one or two more European languages a strong plus
