Your Role and Your Team

You will report directly to the Accountable Manager Airline. You will be responsible for the Airline’s Operations Control Centre (OCC) together with your team. In this role you will ensure exceptional operational performance to highest safety standards, and low operational costs. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing efficient operations control processes and procedures, based on a state-of-the-art digital airline operations platform. You will contribute to developing best in class SOPs and document these in our Operating Manuals which will be rolled out across our network of AOCs and partner organisations.

Together with the Airline management and their teams you will ensure that our organisation complies with all regulations, works safely, and secures the highest quality standards, whilst operating the most modern and best-maintained fleet of aircraft.

As the physical touchpoint to the customer, it ensures the magical and seamless user experience that we at Lilium set out to achieve. We develop the future organisation, define and implement state-of-the-art operating procedures and processes, secure the required approvals in conjunction with the relevant authorities, and work closely with our colleagues from Engineering, Production, and Commercial to develop an integrated mobility service.

Your contribution will be key to the development of Lilium’s ground-breaking mobility service. The focus of this position is to co-develop and improve future ground operations and operations centre concepts and procedures while ensuring the highest safety, quality, and compliance standards through the whole industry. You will also be a critical driver to design, implement, and execute our initial quality, safety, and compliance strategy.


Your Day to Day

  • Develop the Airline Operations Control department, covering flight planning and flight dispatch, operations control, crewing and crew control, and disruption management
  • You will act as the main stakeholder for the specification, development, validation, implementation, and scale up of the core Airline operational IT systems suite
  • Develop, implement, and improve the concepts, change programs, and associated processes and procedures for operations control
  • Monitor industry regulations, standards, and developments to enhance Operations development
  • Support the AOC approval process with relevant National Aviation Authorities (NAAs)
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Regulation (EU) No. 965/2012 and of other related regulations that apply to the Airline
  • Understand the nature of airline operations, the health, safety, and security risks of the business and ensure that systems and policies are developed and implemented to ensure adequate control effectiveness
  • Promote and communicate awareness of safety policy and best practice ensuring employees and managers are aware of their individual responsibility
  • Recruit, train, and manage the Operations Control team
  • Construction and delivery of the Lilium Airline budget ensuring adequate resources to achieve compliance and achieve the commercial, operational and service goals of the company


Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Aviation Management
  • 5 years’ experience in a managerial function in an aviation setting
  • Extensive experience in managing a large-scale Operations Control Centre, incl. Flight planning, Dispatch, Flight Watch, and Crewing functions
  • Extensive experience in developing and implementing state of the art digital processes and systems to improve efficiency in an Operations Control Centre setting
  • Experience of supporting multiple AOCs / operations with a shared service centre concept would be advantageous
  • Strong “Safety first” culture mindset
  • Track record of successful implementation of transformational projects with a focus on digital systems implementation
  • The ability to cope under pressure and work at short notice is essential
  • Airline commercial awareness
  • Familiar with aviation management systems
