Development Engineer

Blue Planet is a cleantech start-up company located in Los Gatos, California, that is developing technology, products and services related to economically sustainable carbon capture and mineralization, whereby carbon dioxide (CO2) gas from point source emitters is permanently sequestered as solid carbonate in building materials for beneficial reuse, specifically as aggregate for concrete.

Blue Planet is seeking a Development Engineer at its subsidiary San Francisco Bay Aggregates to help R&D staff and support development projects at our facility in Pittsburg, California, specifically:

• Development, construction, and operation of test stands for specific unit operations that lead to increased understanding of the relevant process variables and improved designs for Blue Planet’s proprietary processes

• Field engineering and construction support for facilities up to pilot scale

• Ongoing support for continuous process units including some shift work to enable safe, 24-hour operation

As a Development Engineer you will

• Execute process verification protocols at the pilot plant that include unit operations such as gas absorption and aggregate production

• Assist in the construction and operation of equipment prototypes for various unit operations

• Assist in construction and field engineering of the pilot plant in Pittsburg, CA

• Operate pilot facilities safely by following approved procedures

• Communicate data and other findings

A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, with 0-3 years of experience is preferred. Blue Planet offers a full benefits package commensurate with experience.
