ABOUT THE ROLE

In order to fuel and support 3Degrees’ growth trajectory, including the introduction of new products and services globally, 3Degrees seeks a Chief Operating Officer.  In this newly created position, the COO will partner with the CEO and executive leadership team to develop and deliver on our growth strategy, leverage our operations, redesign processes and deploy technology solutions to help our people do everything they do more efficiently and effectively.
 

The COO will be a member of the executive management team and will report to the CEO.  In addition to collaborating closely with the CEO on strategic planning and execution of strategic projects along with other company executives, the COO will oversee a number of functional areas across the company including, but not limited to, People Operations, Marketing, Legal, and IT.  The COO will also work with other business unit leaders to contribute strategic and operational expertise to complement the efforts within those teams.


This is a full-time position preferably located in either San Francisco, CA or Portland, OR, and will report to the CEO.  A remote office, with significant travel required once public health considerations allow,  will be considered for highly qualified candidates. 

 

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The COO will lead or heavily contribute to initiatives across the following three areas:

 

Operational Management

  • Foster a growth oriented, positive and encouraging environment while keeping employees and management accountable to company goals, policies, procedures and guidelines  
  • Effective partnership with business units and shared services to efficiently support rapid growth
  • Work closely with executive leadership to identify and implement operational plans, internal infrastructures, reporting systems, and company policies to drive and support efficient company growth via process, technology and operational optimization
  • Define KPIs to monitor success and progress, collect and apply learnings on a forward-looking basis
  • Maintain and share knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in operations management

 

Strategic Planning

  • Collaborate with the CEO and CFO to lead a highly effective strategic planning process for the company
  • Reimagine the company’s new product development process
  • Collaborate with CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation
  • Manage cross-functional teams, including building and tracking financial and resource allocation models supporting strategic initiatives

 

Corporate Development

  • Work with the CFO/CEO to determine, identify and secure the company’s long term capital needs
  • Lead company-wide identification and assessment of M&A opportunities and partnerships

 

WHAT WE SEEK

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role, which showcases your expertise in strategic planning and operational management
  • Experience addressing operational challenges associated with a high growth company, including international expansion
  • Subject matter knowledge of renewable energy, environmental commodities, utilities, sustainability, and transportation decarbonization
  • Ability to utilize subject matter knowledge to identify and position the company for future growth opportunities
  • An innate ability to diagnose problems quickly and initiate corrective action in close collaboration with executive colleagues
  • A promoter of process improvement who thinks about process changes in the context of anticipated growth domestically and internationally
  • Experience contributing to and shaping board level discussions
  • Strong understanding of financial statements including budgeting, cash flow and capital planning management
  • High personal integrity and experience championing diversity, equity, and inclusivity initiatives
