Job Description

Location: Flexible

The OVO Group’s purpose is to drive progress towards net zero carbon living. To reach Plan Zero, we need everyone to come together - not just as customers buying energy, but as members with a common goal. As part of this ambitious plan, our goal is to become the ‘Leading Employer in the UK’ by 2030. If you think you could be the talent we’re looking for, then come and join the adventure!

Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

Kaluza is an ecosystem of intelligent platforms powering the future of energy. From revolutionising billing to smart electric vehicle charging, Kaluza’s technology is empowering some of the biggest energy suppliers to better serve their customers. Its real-time cloud platforms transform supplier operations, reducing cost to serve and boosting customer engagement.

Powered by Kaluza, suppliers can invest in innovating for tomorrow’s customers and drive decarbonisation with smart, low carbon technologies that not only reduce energy bills, but lay the foundations for a more flexible energy system. For more on Kaluza, head to kaluza.com.

What will I be doing?

We’re looking for a hardworking, detailed Finance professional who has worked in Technology functions to help provide strategic advice and analytical support to the management team, while being closely integrated into the broader Finance organisation (eg. Management Reporting, Accounting, BI).

You will be working within Kaluza, reporting directly to the Head of Finance. The Finance Team’s objectives are:

  • Strategic value; to help build and execute an action plan and to drive Kaluza to its long term commercial and strategic objectives.
  • Planning; we need to allocate future resources beneficially to Kaluza and to introduce clear frameworks to measure ROI
  • Financial Control; to ensure Kaluza’s resources are directed, monitored and measured in an accurate and timely manner and to maintain a ‘No Surprises Environment’
In this role you will be responsible for:
  • Improving the impact, and understanding, of financial reporting on business performance;
  • Providing detailed analysis and delivering insight that links financial reports to business strategies;
  • Providing effective commercial challenge, or initiating change, to ensure key operational, commercial and financial targets are delivered;
  • Building partnerships and maintaining strong relationships with all senior managers and their teams; and
  • Helping teams to build business cases and monitor financial forecasts and ensure this is fed back to the main financial model

Is this the job for me?

Ideally you will be:
  • Qualified or part-qualified Finance Business Partner who has experience working with Technology teams (Product, Design, Software Engineering)
  • Comfortable working in a rapidly changing, high growth environment and who is comfortable proposing, justifying, initiating and implementing change. Experience with navigating technology teams (with product managers, data scientists and engineers)
  • Strong presentation, relationship building, negotiation, facilitation and conflict resolution skills with senior stakeholders.
  • An excellent project manager as well as a creative thinker. This is a role that calls for both a starter and a coordinator.
  • Able to apply analytical skills (across Google docs, Excel, Tableau, SQL) beyond the traditional functions of finance and to bring them to bear on a broad range of commercial issues.

From us you’ll get*

  • An annual discretionary bonus
  • 4% of your salary to spend on flexible lifestyle benefits
  • 5% matched employer contribution to your pension
  • 25 days holiday + 1 for your birthday
  • Flexible working hours
  • And many more...

(*) Please note that certain benefits kick-in once you have passed probation which can be up to 6 months after your start date.
