Job Description

You are a self-starter who is driven by designing, implementing and operating an efficient, highly effective team. You have a proven track record of supporting and empowering positive margin for business teams responsible for driving revenue and managing major accounts.  You are an experienced operations professional that can effectively support the growth of all consulting related functions including people, profit, clients and underlying data that drive our consulting practice.  

 

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

 

Reporting to the Vice President of the Energy and Climate Practice (ECP), the Operations Manager will be a key partner to ensure the ECP team is running as efficiently and productively as possible.  The Manager will also work cross-functionally with Sales/Business Partnerships Marketing, Market Intelligence and other stakeholders to support the goals and requirements to define and deliver scalable process and technology solutions that meet the operational needs of the team.
 

 This is a full-time position preferably based out of San Francisco, CA or Portland, OR (once public health considerations allow).  A remote full-time location will be considered for highly experienced candidates. 

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

 

With a balance of a tactical and a strategic focus, you will manage and improve consulting processes, develop procedures, manage consulting functions, and help our team raise their game. Key responsibilities include:

 

People and Process

 

  • Responsible for day to day operation of the ECP team, including time tracking, timecard management, invoicing, contract management, team meetings, events, billing, time tracking, staff allocation
  • Support definition, design, build and integration of ECP performance and operational dashboard.  Determine, under ECP leadership direction, performance indicators for ECP performance across people, profit and client.  Work with other ECP leadership and other 3D functions to identify data sources and opportunities.  Establish processes for data entry/integration, analysis, reporting and refinement of ECP performance indicators
  • Responsible for team communications related to people, process, technology and data
  • Establish, with other 3D departments as efficient, efficient processes for contract management, project
  • Conduct, as needed, operational assessment, process mapping and process and systems improvement projects for areas of profit, efficiency, people or client delivery and development opportunity
  • Work closely with Sales operations to support business development productivity for ECP by establishing business development processes and resolving pain points 
  • Responsible for developing and ensuring execution of training and learning plans for new and existing staff including people, process and technology
  • Responsible for driving goal setting (together with ECP, Commercial and 3D leadership) and tasks in the biannual performance management and annual year end/year start processes
  • Support cross functional collaboration with product and delivery teams
  • Manage indirect or possibly direct reporting resources to clear expectations and delivery across the capabilities outlined here

 

Technology and Data Analytics

  • Act as an internal expert for operational reporting and analytics capabilities, utilizing Tableau, Google Sheets, Excel, Salesforce or other data analytics and reporting tools
  • Ownership of the ECP operational technology stack (BigTime, Tableau, et al, TBD)
  • Familiarity with and close collaboration with 3D owners of other systems that impact and effect ECP; with understanding of interoperability, potential and a vision for optimization of data and use across platforms.  This includes but is not limited to Salesforce.com, Google Suite, 3D’s internal accounting systems, Level10 and other systems that enable our operations or client deliverables
  • Responsible for keeping up to date on operational technologies and opportunities and making recommendations for data, process and systems changes that drive efficiency and opportunity to the business
  • Create, execute and operate a technology, content and data management strategy for ECP
  • Ensure design and execution of technology rollout occurs smoothly and efficiently 
  • Responsible for developing reporting and communication processes for ECP operational metrics and dashboards as described and to be developed

 

 

WHAT WE SEEK FROM YOU

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience 
  • At least 3 years of operations leadership experience, preferably in a consulting environment
  • Proven ability to communicate complex information to executive audiences   
  • Must be an organized self-starter who will make recommendations and manage a team towards effective delivery 
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, Tableau, Google Suite, Box, Salesforce, and other commercial tools preferred
  • Must be able to think and act both strategically and tactically
  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, quantitative and technical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills 
  • Comfortable interacting with all levels of individuals across the organization
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and collaborate with team members across functions and levels

  • Leading operational definition, redesign, build out of processes, analytics and reporting along people, process and technology
  • Communicating effectively to executive staff and all levels of the ECP and 3D organization regarding operational work and initiatives
  • Bringing prior expertise and maintaining current working knowledge of operational best practices for consulting, financial management, sales and efficiency
