Job Description

What You'll Do

  • Develop and implements a global supply chain strategy, including product and component make/buy decisions and supplier relationship management.
  • Develop commodity strategies for internationally sourced items and identify gaps that exist in the current or potential supplier base.
  • Continuously cultivate and build supplier relationships.
  • Ensure suppliers possess the technical, manufacturing, process, and quality competencies needed to produce our products.
  • Negotiate procurement contracts and supply agreements that encompass inventory strategies and cost savings along with meeting quality and delivery expectations.
  • Work with the R&D engineering and quality departments in the selection and qualification of suppliers.
  • Support new product introduction activity by serving as a member and/or materials resource on all product development teams.
  • Design, develop and implements sourcing plans to manage new existing product and strategic global suppliers, while ensuring a smooth and positive transition to our customers.
  • Facilitate the sourcing project timeline elements. Facilitate and coordinate project meetings and/or visits with suppliers as required to meet timelines.
  • Interacts closely with suppliers and QA to resolve supplier quality issues.
  • Utilize a broad knowledge of markets, suppliers, industries and technologies to deliver annual cost savings and increased efficiencies.
  • Partner with R&D engineers and brand/product managers/staff to identify, analyze and perform financial analysis for cost savings opportunities.
  • Other responsibilities /duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply change management, purchasing, or equivalent job experience
  • 7+ years of relevant procurement or supply chain materials management experience in support of an industrial goods/manufacturing operation
  • 5+ years supervisory experience with at least two direct reports
  • Familiar with Commodities (Steel, Copper, Aluminum, Rare Earth)
  • Strong negotiation capabilities, including price, payment and delivery terms
  • Proven ability in managing effective supplier relationships internationally
  • Proven ability to successfully communicate and operate within the cultures of the assigned regions (Asia, Mexico)
  • Demonstrated success with developing a strategic procurement approach in parallel to tactical hands-on engagement
  • Proven timeline and project management experience in a dynamic environment
  • Prior experience working in an MRP
  • Some travel required, domestic and international (up to 20%)
  • Experience in a start-up organization preferred
  • Experience with Google tools and G Suite
  • Excellent communication skills
