QuantumScape is an energy storage technology company, located in San Jose, California, and we are working on a fundamental disruption in the field of energy storage. We seek to change the paradigm in energy storage by developing a completely new class of electrical energy storage device. We are backed by top VC firms and our ground-breaking technology is based on work done by researchers at Stanford University. We are looking for a Sr. manufacturing engineer to join our team to help drive pilot line scale up activities and work with design engineering, facilities and equipment suppliers to optimally install, and commission new process lines and support development of new processing techniques to increase product performance and reliability.
Responsibilities:
Engage with Project commissioning and Operations leaders to learn the process layout, specifications of equipment's and functional features of setting up an operating process.Participate in the Design and Safety reviews to understand the equipment technical specifications.Lead PFMEA and establish standard operating procedures from Design and supplier documentation.Coordinate with commissioning with pre-start checklist to confirm process setup and readiness for a successful vertical commissioning.Coordinating with other processes functions upstream and downstream and identifying areas of improvement of performance yield.Understand the operations of the equipment and engage the facilities team for machine breakdown and drive downtime reduction.Work with process engineers to develop training modules and impart training to technicians to support enhanced learning and contributing towards improving process and product yield.Work closely with Process and Quality engineers to drive yield improvement by tracking CPVs and eliminating losses.
Minimum education and experience requirements:
B.S. in Ceramic, industrial engineering, electrical engineers or related engineering or science fields.7+ years of manufacturing experience in the continuous process industryHands on experience in working with high temperature kilns and furnaces are highly preferred.Working experience in semiconductor and thin film technologies is highly desirable.Experience in developing solutions to production issues, understanding losses and work to implement continual improvement to increase yield.Knowledge of high temperature measurement, electrical heating systems, and process automation is necessary for this position.Self-motivated, having a track record of learning new skills and techniques and applying those to achieve result. Thrive in a fast paced, technically exciting environment and quickly adapt to changes. Strong communicator and enjoy collaborating with colleagues to solve technical challenges. Highly Desired:
MS or higher degree in ceramic, chemical, industrial or electrical engineeringExperience working within an operation and/or manufacturing teams Practical knowledge of six sigma methodologies is a plus. High temperature furnace or processing experience Thin film processing experience Working in multi-functional teams delivering breakthrough process improvements. Experience of leading junior level engineers or technicians
Physical Requirements:
May work with airtight isolation chambers and/or wear neoprene or vinyl gloves for 15-30% of the time. May frequently reach above shoulder heights and below the waist.
