QuantumScape is an energy storage technology company, located in San Jose, California, and we are working on a fundamental disruption in the field of energy storage. We seek to change the paradigm in energy storage by developing a completely new class of electrical energy storage device. We are backed by top VC firms and our ground-breaking technology is based on work done by researchers at Stanford University. We are looking for a Sr. manufacturing equipment engineer to join our team to help drive pilot line scale up activities and work with design engineering, facilities and equipment suppliers to optimally install, and commission new process lines and support development of new processing techniques to increase product performance and reliability.
Responsibilities:
Engage as a team member to work with Hardware engineering team and Systems Engineer to establish in setting up process automation for scale up of manufacturing processes.Work with engineering team to receive the equipment, operating documentation and identify key steps in installing and commissioning the equipment. Work with design hardware engineers to understand automation process and critical equipment functioning to integrate as continuous operations.Working with manufacturing process engineers, and facilities on critical requirement of process functions and prepare operating documentation.Understand the software and PLC operating systems to support startup and continuous operations to avoid machine downtime.Develop training modules and with manufacturing engineers and impart training to technicians to support in-depth understanding of equipment functioning.Working closely with the Design and safety leader to confirm operational features of equipment in meeting the safety requirements.Provide operational experience to design team for further improvement in automation of processes.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Minimum education and experience Requirements:
You possess a B.S. in electronics, controls or related engineering and science fields. You have proven track record in a manufacturing or development engineering role for 7+ years where you played a crucial role in installation and commissioning of startup processes.Well organized, well versed with troubleshooting logic for PLC's, robots and process automation.The ability to work in a matrix organization and have accountability towards the successful commissioning and operations of new equipment or processes.Self-motivated, having a track record of learning new skills and techniques and applying those to achieve result. Thrive in a fast paced, technically exciting environment and quickly adapt to changes. Strong communicator and enjoy collaborating with colleagues to solve technical challenges. Strong data analytical skills Aggressive and results driven approach to problem-solving Strong interpersonal skills
Highly Desired:
MS in electronics, and controls or electrical engineeringExperience working within an operation and/or manufacturing teams Practical knowledge of six sigma methodologies is a plus. High temperature furnace or processing experience Thin film processing experience Experience working in multi-functional teams delivering breakthrough process improvements. Experience of leading junior level engineers or technicians
Physical Requirements:
May work with airtight isolation chambers and/or wear neoprene or vinyl gloves for 15-30% of the time. May frequently reach above shoulder heights and below the waist.
