We are seeking a Director of Field Services in the Americas to join our global Operations team. Apeel’s Field Service teams are our frontline employees that operate within our customers’ facilities and ensure that we provide the best service and highest quality product and application to fresh fruits and vegetables. In this position, you will build, lead, manage, and support this team of domestic and international employees to ensure they provide on-time and in-full service delivery with the highest standards. This role is based in the US, and will require a travel commitment of +40%. We are looking for you to join us immediately.

What You’ll Do

  • In the US and Latin America, you will be accountable for the safe, compliant and reliable delivery of Apeel-treated produce, meeting quality specifications, at budgeted cost  
  • Interface with leaders of field support functions, EH&S, Engineering, Human Resources and others, to ensure that these support teams are setting up your Field Services team for success  
  • Manage a rapidly growing team of remote field operators placed at our supply partners’ packing houses, repack facilities, and distribution centers, both domestically and in Latin America 
  • Hire and onboard a professional team of field staff to meet fast-growing demand for additional operating sites 
  • Continue to improve the training and onboarding process for new field operators to ensure they are quickly able to independently operate and professionally represent Apeel Sciences at customer facilities
  • Develop a support network for remote operators, which will ensure adequate product inventory, supplies, and resources to meet customer demand
  • Build on existing communication platforms to enhance two-way communications between remote teams and corporate headquarters
  • Work with People & Culture, Finance, Sales, and Market Development to develop strategies for supporting new produce categories and new operating regions in the US and throughout the world
  • Develop and maintain KPIs/metrics to measure and compare productivity and costs across facilities, monitor trends, and take corrective actions/improvements as necessary  
  • Provide leadership and guidance for professional growth and career development within Apeel Sciences to keep field staff learning and motivated
  • Maintain direct relationships with produce suppliers’ management and operational staff to ensure customer satisfaction and continued success of our programs within their facilities
  • Coordinate directly with Engineering, Quality, Customer Success, and others to ensure that improvements to processes and systems are being prioritized and completed
  • Ensure teams are continuing to understand and adhere to the latest Apeel Sciences and customer Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), guidance documents, safety standards, and compliance requirements 
  • Work with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform and other existing systems to track customer orders, operations, and more

What You Bring

  • Leadership experience, providing a vision to the organization, and aligning a group of geographically dispersed employees to achieve common objectives   
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or related field 
  • Minimum 8 years experience in manufacturing operations (food or produce industry experience a plus)
  • Previous management experience working with multiple distributed teams of remote operators or technicians
  • Previous experience working in hyper-growth environments, with fast-paced and rapidly changing operating conditions
  • Demonstrated track record of developing and successfully implementing, high-impact solutions that deliver measurable business results
  • Ability to think and act strategically, understand how the role contributes to the larger outcome of Apeel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization
  • Experience creating and maintaining a culture of safety 
  • Ability to work in hot/cold post-harvest environments, stand/walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Business level Spanish required
  • Familiarity with Excel, Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Google Slides, Gmail in a Mac environment preferred 
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 40%
